I'm a "listen on my own" sort of person, so I imagine I will want to be in my feelings about this for a while before/if I say anything, but I'll be SO EXCITED to hear the album and everyone's thoughts. <3 <3 <3
I've said before but feels like a good time to restate... I'm so happy these forums got saved from the spam, and just in time for all this. Really a positive light right now.

HELLO FROM THE AFTERLIFE AND I JUST HEARD ACTUAL REAL ISLAND WITH ONLY 40 MINS WARNING AND I AM TOO STUNNED AND TIRED FOR COHERENT WORDS BUT ISLAND HAS ALREADY BEEN MY FAVOURITE THING IN THE WORLD FOR 5 YEARS AND EVERY TIME I’VE HEARD THE SONGS LIVE THEY’VE GOT BETTER BUT THIS JUST EXCEEDED ALL MY EXPECTATIONS AND WOW THE SOUND QUALITY WAS JUST PHENOMENAL AND IT IS 2.30AM NOW SO I SHOULD STOP YELLING AND GO TO SLEEP (AFTER I’VE LISTENED TO ISLAND ONCE MORE)
P.S. I can confirm it is out at midnight in whatever country you’re in and happy birthday adrestia, what an incredible gift!!!!

It's finally here! Thank you kit and cat for posting the info on the release, and thank you Owen for releasing it!! Working in the service industry during all of this lately has been kicking my ass, and this album is just what the doctor ordered.

Absolutely went the hell off on A Bloody Morning, good god!!!! Like I'm just listening on shitty TV speakers for my first run and everything sounds amazing already, can't wait for the spin on good headphones tomorrow. So excited to hear all these songs move from live to recording!!!!!!

this is gonna be one of those albums i buy on every format possible just to play thru my shitty 40-yr-old speakers. t-minus 5 mins if yr on the east coast friends!
edit: seconding everything everyone has said about A Bloody Morning, good lord. that and Fire-Mare back to back fucking wiped me out.
Even after hearing live clips, it's remarkable how different this is from everything Owen's done before. Lotta guitar and live drums. The Sound of Engines reminds me of the Diablo soundtrack.
I didn't know Owen could sing this deep. We on the forum have had them available for almost three years, but the lyrics are so worthy of exploration. I can't wait to listen to this album a hundred more times.
The live performances will be insane.

OK I won't be too articulate because I'm still listening, HOWEVER! I have to share this thought! The darkness of the beginning of the album took me by surprise (though I'm not sure why it was a surprise): the subtle off-ness of just a few chords produced such an unnerving feeling, similar to how the album cover art looks. Then when he said "godkiller's alive," I felt like so much came into focus... like, through so much suffering, there's Lewis; and through everything, here's me, alive and listening. Anyone else feel me?? That line REALLY hit me hard.
Also as I'm typing this A Bloody Morning came on and it is *incredible*. Ok, that's all for me for now!
EDIT: it almost certainly goes w/o saying but there are no negative connotations to the words "dark" or "unnerving" !!! i may have shed a tear or several. it's whatever
EDIT 2: it's like: there's so much suffering and pain, in lewis' world and in ours. it's been a rough decade for him, and for us. I felt like I heard that struggle reflected musically. and then that lyric-- that moment in the album-- really cut through it all (or rather stood amidst it all?), to lay claim to the fact that "i'm here." it was good.
