i had a feeling it wasn't pronounced exactly the way it was written! who would have thought that xiu xiu was pronounced exactly like that bad emo band though? wow, especially since both words appear to be the same, but are somehow pronounced differently! thanks for the heads up

I heard "shoo shoo" too. NEVER "ZOO ZOO".

it's like zsa zsa gabor! but not! right with the one who said zsu zsu...i don't believe there really is a 'sh-' sound in it...who knows....that's why we love em right...mysterious headaches of wonderment

After watching the movie--a tragic tale of a selfish spoiled brat, mind you--- I can assure you the correct pronounciation is: Show show.

i recently spoke to a friend of mine who is fluent in cantonese about this, and he told me the pronunciation would be shiu shiu, and that the iu sound is basically an "ee" followed quickly by an "oe", so it would be shee-oe shee-oe. but when you say this quickly, it comes out like show show ("i'm going to the show show show"...). however, he believed it could also be pronounced shoo in different dialects

as there is 30+ dialects in china alone, i'd probably go with how the band says it's pronounced.
