Jamie and Caralee were gracious enough to allow me to film their recent San Francisco gig and produce an episode of my public access television show on Xiu Xiu. If you live in SF and are interested in checking it out, the results will air on Sunday, October 17, 2004, 9:30pm - 10:00pm on San Francisco Comcast Cable Channel 29. More info on the episode is here: www.fingeronthepulse.org/xiuxiu/I'm pretty psyched about this episode airing and hope some folks unfamiliar with Xiu Xiu's music will tune in and get excited by what they see. I really liked Xiu Xiu's performance that night and I think that overall, the episode turned out pretty well. (I should say I am by no means a professional tv producer--the tv show is a hobby of mine and something I do because I love sharing the music I love with a wider audience.) Thanks, Sarah Gordon Producer, Finger On The Pulse, featuring the Bay Area's Music Scene 1st & 3rd Sunday of every month at 9:30pm on SF Public Access 29 www.fingeronthepulse.org/

Me too, Please. I live in the South Bay and my SF friends are too cheap for cable. Can a video of this broadcast be made available?
Ps. i think that's really cool that you did this. I was @ the SF show and am stoked to see more. peace

Hey, Thanks for the interest in watching the show. Alas, I don't have the resources to make copies for everyone who would want one. It's not just the cost, but the time and equipment. It is hard enough to keep the show afloat by myself doing just the bare minimum of work (who knew producing a tv show was so time consuming?) That said, I'd love for anyone who wants to see it to be able to. I'd propose one of the following: - a couple of kind Xiu Xiu fans in SF who can record and get copies of the show to the folks who want to see it. - a viewing party...maybe some kind Xiu Xiu fan would host a viewing party either on the night the episode airs (this Sunday, 9:30pm) or sometime subsequently and we could watch it as a group then. Maybe we could watch the Xiu Xiu DVD as well. A true Xiu Xiu geek fest! Of course, this would only help those in the bay area.... - If things do settle down a bit for me (this just happens to be an incredibly busy time), I might be able to make a couple copies for fans to send around to each other so folks near and far can see the show eventually. Maybe contact me via email in a month or so and we can explore this option if things are less hectic for me at that time. My email address is on the show's website (link is below). -Sarah www.fingeronthepulse.org/

i'm not terribly knowledgeable on the subject but it would be quite possible to digitize a copy of it if you have it on tape, in which case it could be made available for those who want it on the net (which would make it cheap and easy for everyone). if you know someone that does any kind of video editing/av stuff you can probably ask them and find out or maybe even get them to do it for you, it's not a very difficult process most of the time

Regarding digitization...video takes up a lot of space. I'd estimate about 500Mb for a low quality but watchable mpeg of the show, which is 28 mnutes 30 seconds in length. I don't have any place to host something of that size....

ah but you can convert/compress it to a more manageable size! i imagine you could get something of that length down to between 100-200 MB through something like DivX compression and then put it up on something like www.indietorrents.com and you wouldn't even need to host it also perhaps whoever is involved with the fansite has some space they could put it on, as they had the radio3 vids up for a while? i don't mean to seem to force this upon you i'm just trying to offer an alternative solution to hardcopies

Yeah, sorry...you have to live in SF and get Comcast cable to watch the show. It is a shame that it isn't more available, but I can't complain too much...at least it gets out there at all. I really love public access tv...any forum where anyone in the community can make something available to a wider audience is damn cool. There are very few forums like this that remain outside of the world of the internet. To addictedtosound, I'll look into the different digital encoding options, but my computer isn't beefy enough to handle that much video so I can't do it easily at home. It's something I'm interested in doing because I want more people to see the show. It might be a little while, though... Oh, and if anyone does manage to watch the show, I'd love to know what you think of it (the good and the bad--be honest!)
