in addition to the music (which is amazing) in addition to the lives shows (i've only seen one but it was the highlight of my summer), xiu xiu seem like great people, that's pretty refreshing and it makes me want to support every artistic endevour they put forth. its also exciting that they are so productive and have been putting out so much material (with so many other things planned - chapel of the chimes LP - sweet!, 7 inches ! dvd!). Art is good and it gives me something to look forward to in the upcoming months of my life.
love.

Amen, sister.
I was listening to Knife Play on my walkman while grocery shopping and thinking about Xiu Xiu and how wonderful they are and how happy their existence and their art makes me. Although I initially thought of their music as histrionic and horrifying, and dismissed them as wankers, I realize now, especially after seeing them live, that they really believe in what they do. Jamie is so sincere and he really believes in the song that he's singing; it's quite admirable. Their music continues to enthrall me and thrill me, record after record; I can't wait for more!
Plus Jaime and Caralee are so nice. I felt bad about bothering Jamie while he was trying to pack up gear, but he was nice about it and signed my record anyway. And Caralee was super nice to me and my friend, giving us suggestions on how to find a harmonium. Quality folks...

But yeah, they do seem like really nice people.
