Happy Birthday Crank Heart Shut Up Shut Up [black hair got you down tonight] 20,000 Deaths...(Cherry oh Cherry) Jennifer Lopez Bunny Gamer Why Ask? Apistat Commander Sad Pony Guerilla Girl I Luv the Valley O! Helsabot
Ok, so the Houston show was so awesome that I decided I would drive to Austin to see them again. I'm so glad I did, the excrutiating commute was well worth it!
The set started with Jaime and Caralee singing Happy Birthday to their tour manager Scott.
That third song I listed I didn't know, could be new, or from Knife Play, or a single. I just remember that line...
I REALLY wanted to hear Jennifer Lopez and Bunny Gamer, and they played them both! For J-Lo Caralee took guitar and Jamie was on percussion and harmonium.
Why Ask? is the song where Jaime busts out the zither/autoharp/dulcimer thing, and the way he holds it it looks like he's cradling a baby...
Sad Pony Guerilla Girl was a complete surprise and it was an awesome performance--very dynamic in its quiet/loud shifts and JS really showed off his vocal skills, barking like a small dog and mumbling quickly and incoherently so that it sounded like horrible demon gossip...I got the chills.
But probably the real standout of the evening was Caralee singing Helsabot, one of my favorite Xiu Xiu songs. The song was very quiet and restrained and moving--one of the most beautiful performances I've ever witnessed!

i do believe this may be the finest set list of the tour i've seen...as far as it having all the songs i really wanted to hear. i'm quite jealous you got to hear caralee sing "helsabot"...also one of my faves. "suha" too..god. but i did get the pleasure of seeing the barking version of "sad pony..."

- This emoticon was a mistake! Apparently if you hit three question marks in a row it just automatically comes up.

>How were the Weird Weeds Please tell!
I got to the show late, saw them do a few songs and they sounded good, very dynamic, but I was unfamiliar with their material and really was just too antsy to see Xiu Xiu to pay attention!
>the third song is called suha, and it's on knife play... why don't you have a copy of it? take it now!
I bought a copy that night, and it's awesome, especially Suha! What a great song!
>anywayz, i love xiu xiu and i loved that show. the ambiance was amazing! all those mirrors were pretty trippy too
Yeah, wasn't the space great! It was some dance rehearsal space with mirrors all along one wall, and it was on the second floor and there were tall windows on the opposite wall where you could see lightning flashing in the distance. It was all very apocalyptic!

A note on this: I was standing against the back wall next to one of the organizers, and Jaime came and asked him to throw that guy out. The organizer goes, "What, like throw him out?" and Jaime said, "No, just ask him to leave." He didn't leave, but was quiet after that!

I saw the Weird Weeds at the Denton show and was completely floored. It was probably the best time I've ever had watching a band that I knew nothing about. Which was in serisous stark contrast to the other band that opened up who were just the most tremendously terrible band I've ever seen. If anyone else was there you know what I'm talking about. I would buy a Weird Weeds album in a second, and I'd defineatly go see them again if they ever come back.
