I second the guy who said "Two Headed Boy Pt. 2"... I also thinks "Aliens" by Music Tapes has more loneliness in it than almost any other song I've ever heard... also the really late version of "Rider on the Wheel" by Nick Drake... DANK SHIT

I was really depressed few days ago and I was listening to Fairport Convention's(/Sandy Denny's) Who knows where the time goes? and suddenly found myself on a graveyard. I sat down, started it from the beginning, smoked a tobacco and moved on. Weird it was. And someone said about Nick Drake. That's real depressing and good. Notwist's Pick up the phone has also been on my player on those long silent nights lately.

I once made a tape devoted entirely to the most depressing, maudlin music in my collection for my best friend when we were living in different states. I don't remember the track list, but here are a few songs that were included:
Current 93: A Sadness Song and A Sad Sadness Song Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds: The Weeping Song The Smiths: Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me New Order: Sub-culture Dead Can Dance: Don't Fade Away Depeche Mode: Death's Door The Cure: Disintegration Nico: Elegy to Lenny Bruce Coil: Ostia (The Death of Pasolini) XTC: Dying

Louis Armstrong - Wonderful World
Its been played over so many ironically tragic images, I can't listen to it without feeling incredibly sad.
And also, Gorecki's third symphony, third movement.

sufjan stevens' "Greetings From Michigan..." is the most depressing album for me. it makes me sad and want to cry my eyeballs out.
also, the eels song "elizabeth on the bathroom floor" is about how E walks in on his sister, who had just commited suicide in the bathroom. it's a true story. his mom also died of cancer.
sounds a bit like dave eggers' life.
