Its always fun/depressing to listen to your favorite sad song on repeat for about an hour. so why not share those songs. I believe Jamie's is Tracy Chapman's Fast Car, which is extremely depressing. But Billy Joel's Piano Man always gets me. Anyone else?

funny, i've always thought of billy joel's piano man as uplifting...
mine is "trust" by the cure
but if i'm having issues with my boyfriend, it's the hidden track from alanis morissette, and "untouchable face" by ani difranco (singing "fuck you" along with her is very cathartic)... recently, magnetic fields "i thought you were my boyfriend" added into the mix

Ill have to get that alanis song. But as a good example, i've had Tracy Chapman's Fast Car playing on repeat for approximately an hour, sad songs never get old/loose their touch. I can see how Piano Man might seem uplifting, as it did to me when i frist heard it. But if you read the lyrics along with the song its rather depressing. Hah, listen to ourselves.

i can't believe i actually admitted to listening to an alanis morrisette song as for piano man, i find the song uplifting because there's unity among the drunks and losers at the bar... it's the one place they can feel good about themselves.

I don't wanna turn into the guy who always recommends neutral milk... but....
neutral milk hotel - Two Headed Boy, Part Two
in context of the whole In the Aeroplane album... is the most moving thing I've ever heard...

ohhh.. and Johnny Cash's cover of I See a Darkness... I mean the original's good... but the chorus in Cash's version, with Oldham singing backup is just heartbreaking... yeah yeah...
