i have never seen xiu xiu live, although i desire to very much. for those of you who have been lucky enought to: how did you generally respond to the music?
ive downloaded live mp3s of xiu xiu and the crowd "woo"ing encouragingly while jamie sings "getting killed by a cop" which just seems sort of strange to me. and the music, especially the new stuff is danceable, so do you dance? i guess you could just dance if you want to, we can leave your friends behind. i imagine i would just kind of stand or sit comptemplatively for the slow songs, so as to let their impact hit me fully. but i would want to dance to stuff like clown towne.
just wondering i guess.

I bob a lot...not so much as dance, but I am moving around with a huge smile on my face. Sadly, the scenesters I saw at the ps211 show refused to move or smile...like it was a sin. Oh well.

I listen without talking during the songs.
I don't dance.
I clap when I want to.
I smile when I want to, which is more often than not.
I'll drink beer if the show is at a bar.
I respond to people if they ask questions between songs, since not everyone knows what a harmonium is, or who the band is, or where are they from, etc.
I see a lot of people bobbing their heads. Maybe I do too, but I may not be aware of it.

i stand still and hug my shoulders.. of course, i'm really tall, and i like to be close to the stage, so i always feel like i'm in people's way, so i try to become as small as possible, which is difficult when you're 6'4 and you wear platform shoes, but what can i do? i love my creepers, and people behind me yell at me sometimes, and that hurts my self esteem, so then i feel like hugging my shoulders more... it's all very xiu xiu...
oh yeah, and sometimes, i sing along, but only at certain moments... if you wanted to hear yourself sing the song, why go to the show? you could sing along more effectively in the car, alone :)

I bobbed my head and singed. It's definitely not appropriate music for dancing. It evokes so much emotions that it is best to just stand still and enjoy

another random question(s):
the only pictures i've seen show him playing with caralee as a 2-piece... is this the usual live setup? what do they play? do they use a lot of sequencing?

yeah they use a lot of sequencing... then live synths, guitars, harmoniums, percussion, kitchen sink.

it used to be just jamie with a guitar, keyboard, and various additional "percussion"
