I'm sure this thread's been done before, but I finally got a copy of Xiu Xiu: The Sent-Down Girl on DVD yesterday and just finished watching it. I guess there's really no unpretentious way to say it, but it was definitely the most simultaneously terrible and beautiful movie I've ever seen. By the end, I wanted to.... well, anyone who's seen the movie will know, but I don't wanna spoil it.
Some of the location shots, the long shots of the range and the mountains, were just so gorgeous though. There's one in particular, towards the beginning, when Xiu Xiu first gets out to the tent, and a storm is coming, and the entire landscape is grey, but it's so amazingly pretty at the same time.
Bleh, I sound goth or something. Anyhow, fans of the band will find that the music has something in common with this movie. Check it out soon, 'cause the DVD is officially out-of-print now.
