Erm, just wondering how many out there listen to Joy Division? Im friends with Ian Curtis' step-son and thats how I started listening to Xiu Xiu. Genius darkness and sombreity, must have been a major influence on Jamie. Any English fans of Xiu Xiu? Tempted to go to the house in my hometown where Ian Curtis hung himself, hope Jamie doesnt follow same path.

Hey there, I've been a diehard joy division fan since the healthy age of 12, which some have claimed says a lot about me as a person... I wouldn't think it possible for Jamie to go the way of Ian, simply through reading interviews with the guy. He seems much more... together? I'm not sure if that's the right way to put it... But he seems to be relatively at peace with his demons, or at least as at peace as one ever gets... No, let me rephrase - he isn't at peace per se, but he knows how to live with them. I could be completely wrong, of course, but that's how it seems...

Xiu Xiu's style is totally original.
But has anybody noticed how much Jamie sounds like the singer from Talk Talk?

"But has anybody noticed how much Jamie sounds like the singer from Talk Talk?"
i have! especially on "tonite & today." in fact, i was listening to a talk talk-inspired album (bed - spacebox [great stuff if you've worn out spirit of eden and laughing stock-- highly recommended]) last night with my girlfriend over dinner. when i asked her what it reminded her of, she said "i don't know. it kind of sounds like the singer from xiu xiu sometimes." she eventually did pick up on the talk talk resemblence.

i should add that i don't think it's possible to wear out spirit of eden or laughing stock -- i'll never stop listening to those albums. they're pure magic.
