Ok, here's one that I maybe should not have posted. Anyways, I was thinking about all the problems that have arisen due to certain cartoons making fun of the Islamic religion. As I was pondering how offended the Muslims are about these cartoons, I wondered how most people are no longer offended by Christianity being ridiculed. Is it "cool" to make fun of one particular religion and not another? Should everyone make fun of every religion equally, or should a person choose one to make fun of? I hereby choose to make fun of Buddhism, just to see how politically correct that is.

christianity gets made fun of all the time because they stick their neck out to evangelize and often look very silly in the process. islam, as far as i know, has no evangelical prospects. and the point wasn't even that the cartoons were making fun of islam, it was that muhammed was depicted in an image. the bomb in the turban was just the icing on the cake.

The muslims in my opinon have every right to stand up for there belifes, but not in the course of action they have choosen, and the fact that they do make sutch a big deal about it is why it becoms less and less politicaly correct.
as for budist bashing i dont think you will get to much flak for that one, budists arent known to be so confrontational in my experience

They weren't angry about the cartoons making fun of them, they believe that drawing the face of Mohamed is blasphemous, that is what upset them. Although, it is still kinda silly.

All religions are equally silly and should be made fun of, on that note, I haven't heard many Buddhist jokes; good luck with that

I enjoy this man, he makes a lot of sense regarding religion. A lot of you may enjoy him, although I'm really sorry if this offends everyone. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UY-ZrwFwLQg

dragging up old posts is fun.. that guy was pretty funny and he had some good points, except for thinking that death is the end.. DEATH IS THE BEGINNING!!!!!! haha anyway a couple posts up someone said something about how islam isnt evangelical.. well.. I received an Islam brochure in my mailbox a couple months back and it was titled: Islam - Religion of Peace. Right on! Anyway, I don't see anything wrong with religion bashing.. Jesus bashed the religion of the Jews (pharisees and sadducees) to their faces..

All Religion is non-sense. It is irrelevant what your personal beliefs are, if you attempt to impose them on other people, through limiting free speech as 'inciting religious hate' you are limiting the liberties of human beings. Christopher Hitchens has the best quote on religious beliefs: "That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence."
