I get Soldier's Rock stuck in my head quite often (kind of weird?) but I'm really really digging Infernal Fantasy

The album will be out next year (w/tour and singles and whatever) with regards to tours, I was wondering if you'd be covering the whole of the UK or just London? I'll have to save up if you don't come to the north :')

Though I'm living in London I concur that the North of England could do with some quality Pallett time. I was going to say, particularly Stoke-on-Trent, but I can't guarantee you a crowd, just me and maybe a buddy or two!
Also I can't quite seem to move past In Conflict.

For all you lucky people that get to see him and decide to nab a video, for gods sake please get some of the new ones!!! For some reason Supercrawl had like 4 videos of Scandal at The Parkade (I love the song, I really do! But I wanted to see some of the new stuff!) Thankfully one dude uploaded the new goodies.

Just listened over the new songs again and I can't seem to get Infernal Fantasy out of my head! It's beautiful... but I'm trying my best to not sing it within earshot of my parents, oops

I really like In Conflict. When the tune rises an octave, is Owen controlling the pitch with his violin somehow? It looks he's just playing a note, which makes the whole song raise in pitch as it moves up.

Any idea when the show will start in Paris? I have friend who will try to get a flight to Paris the same day. The site says it'll open 19:30, so I guess Owen will get on stage at around 21:00?

I just saw the show in munich. The good thing: the are some really strong new songs to come out on the next album ! the not so good thing: the old songs hardly fit with the new line up. the drummer is a nice guy, but his "rocking" drumming style pounds and crashes away all the grace and sublimity of most Pallett-only compositions. the bass-player: well, he plays the parts owen usually played with his edgy pitched down violin. maybe owen is bored by his "dry" avant- chamber pop/classic corsett ("He poos clouds"), maybe he enjoys the "rock"-element when playing live. and i know that artists need to try new things and - above all - owen maybe just doesnt want be alone on tour anymore :-) Still, i liked the uniqueness of the old solo-looper shows better: dynamics by composition and arrangement only, and not by loud rock-drums. am i to strict ? what do others think ?

re: the latest post...
Rob and Matt played with Owen in Les Mouches, so this is hardly a 'new' aesthetic. I think it's fantastic that he's bringing a different dynamic to his live performances. I also think that the driving percussion really complements the new material! In Conflict's definitely going to switch it up a bit.

Owen has spoken quite a few times about the transition from orchestral writing to writing for a band, and how difficult it has been for him; I can only imagine that translating that to a live setting would be a pretty monstrous challenge. Not to mention his explanation on the Mopho alone in one of the other threads! I would agree that there is a certain charm to Owen's solo shows, and the alteration of the orchestral songs to a "rock band" setting as you say might be a little jarring, but I wouldn't say that the change of pace is necessarily a negative thing. He's not suddenly writing songs for bar atmospheres, just changin' it up. I also have a lot of respect for artists that can change their style by record and still sound consistent and, well, good. There's nothing wrong with evolving!
