I was just wondering how Owen did that intro of song song song, live without the aid of the fancy max msp rig and axe fx.
Was it just a mixture of guitar pedals??
(or did he not play it before the max msp rig? or just a technique of playing?)

Actually, "Song song song" was retired from the regular set around the introduction of the multi-phonic stuff. It was a RC-20 song.
I'd turn up the gain to 3:00 on the input for the col legno, close the loop, then smack the violin. I'd pitch the smack sound down an octave to make it sound like a kick. Then I'd reset the input to 12:00, add the scrape-y parts while singing. Pizz. On-the-beat bowed stuff. Then the main riff. The hard part was doing a fade with my toe on the wet knob while playing the fast pizz. stuff at the end. This song used to be such a challenge! (Not any more)
