Dear Mr. Pallett,
I'm a Canadian student in Digital Film and Video Production at the Art Institute of Portland and I'm a have been a huge fan for years! I recently moved here from Ottawa. I have all of your music and I've always wanted to make a music video for one of your songs. For one of my video finals, I was hoping to use A Man With No Ankles in its entirety. I will not be making any money off the film but I do want to post it on YouTube and Vimeo to promote myself as a filmmaker and your music (because you're awesome!)
The song will be fully credited. Here is the drafted proposal:
What do you think? Could I please use your song?

Become a Man will be an experimental piece that will be based on the song A Man With No Ankles. The video will discuss different causes of a predestined life. However, the future is variable and the choices we make affect the outcome of our lives.
The way I will choose to interpret the song will be abstract, not literal and they will not be presented in sequence. The story will be about a young man going through his days making the most immature decisions possible; taking the road he wants to take. His choices will be juxtaposed with shots of mundane people that have followed the road set out for them by social norms and pressure. These individuals will be unhappy and unexciting. Although the young man’s decisions may have undesirable consequences, he is a seemingly happier person.
The story will end with him coming back to reality after being lost in idle thought during a job interview. The hiring manager will ask him if he was listening. He replies “no way” and leaves.
What do you think? Could I please use your song?
