I just started learning how to make chiptune music this weekend, and decided to practise by making a chiptune arrangement of Midnight Directives. Here's a link to my first latest draft. It would be nice to get feedback! soundcloud.com/ugglynoodle/midnight-directives-chiptune-v4It's very basic, only using square and sawtooth waves and three percussion samples I grabbed from a tutorial, but I think it already sounds pretty cool! Edit: Thanks for the comments! I've updated the link to my second latest draft.

Love this! So well done! I wouldnt have a clue where to start on something like that. Its so true to the original yet so wonderfully retro videogame. Love.

It's cool! I'd love to hear some more looseness with volume control, you know? My favourite stuff in that chiptunes thing is all the sfp < ff if you get my meaning.
Before you sit down to do another-- if you plan on it-- let me know and I'll spit out a MIDI file, ok

How awesome (and humbling) to get feedback from Owen! Yes, volume control has been one of the more difficult aspects for me. This is the first time I've made music on the computer, and it's not easy trying to adjust the volume for every single note!
I've been playing with a few other things, slowly trying to learn about instruments and effects in the software I'm using. I was kind of thinking about The Great Elsewhere for my next project, not sure if that's too ambitious! Owen, if you'd like to help by sending over a MIDI file, I'd be stoked.
I'm glad people here have enjoyed it, thanks all for the nice words!

What software did you use for this? I messed with Famitracker when I dabbled in Chiptunes stuff, and I'd like to know what you used.
Excellent job though!

Midnight Directives is awesome.
I'd love to hear a chiptune version of Lewis Takes Off His Shirt.
