I must say, in 2011 I highly curbed my spending on music. However, out of the albums I did PAY for, the best of them was the Death Cab one, Codes and Keys (which I actually bought for the boyfriend).
Which ONE album that was released last year, that you actually bought, did you think was worth every dime?

Radiohead - King of Limbs
....or Atlas Sound. I cheated, yes.

but there were a lot of great albums released in 2011, so you make it difficult by limiting responses to one album. I understand why, of course.

I've enjoyed the next 2 installments of Privilege and Demos For The Dreaming is possibly my favourite slice of 2011.

Definitely Patrick Wolf - Lupercalia. Or if you can count a 7-track EP then Brumalia - it has to be one of the most wonderful things I have ever heard.

The best was Bon Iver - Bon Iver other faves: M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming The Antlers - Burst Apart
I've been out of the western world for the most of 2011 though, so 2010 was much better for me:
Owen Pallett - Heartland Sufjan Stevens - All Delighted People, Age of Adz Arcade Fire - The Suburbs (not their best, but it was still good) Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
and there were a bunch more, I think Dark Was The Night was also 2010.
Also, it was a great year for music festivals

I changed my mind and now Julia Holter's Tragedy is my 2011 favorite.
