I was planning to go to New York City in early August. I may have either just changed my mind, or decided to go on two trips. That's going to be an amazing show!
I'm planning to see Beirut at Osheaga a few days before - they haven't released their schedule yet, so I'll have to figure out if a trip to Toronto is even realistic. (Work is another factor.)

Anyone know of good places to stay/crash for a night or two up there? Good hostels, open homes?

unfortunately i live literally on the other end of the ocean, so i am clinically depressed about that concert. does anyone know where i can listen to les mouches? i only got familiar with owen about 3 years ago, so everything prior to that is unknown to me...

Question! Maybe I've missed it, or it's just implicit, but, as happy as I am about the return of Les Mouches, he's gonna keep doing solo stuff, righhht? I mean, I love Les Mouches, but, in a totally different way than when he works by himself. Les Mouches is really (intentionally) frustrated and uncomfortable music, most of the time (I remember reading they practiced naked sometimes to try to build awkwardness, if that was true), so yeah, just making sure..

Just to be clear:
These shows are being billed as "Owen Pallett et les Mouches" only in Toronto and Montreal. Les Mouches very rarely played anywhere except those two places. The suffix "et les Mouches" was applied in acknowledgement of the fact that I'm playing with the same musicians that I was playing with in 2003-2005.
There is otherwise no similarities between the current band shows and the old Les Mouches shows... we're not playing "The Hands Of Men" or "Spalding Man" or anything. The new shows, with band, actually just sound like the album "Heartland" played really loud and with more dynamics. It's very exciting. My friend Kevin said that it sounded like all these songs had been in cages and were suddenly free and walking around.
BUT.
For those of you who were familiar with Les Mouches' live shows, you might remember that despite our shortcomings, whatever they might have been, there was an undeniable chemistry between the three musicians onstage. This chemistry, I hope, will translate into the new format.
Most of all, too, we're all super happy to be playing with each other again and it's kind of impossible for us to keep the smiles off our faces.

Lastly... we're still in the early stages of playing together as a band. There are certain songs that will never be played in the three-piece format. And there are other songs that I've been unable to play solo that we're working out for the trio. But the priority, of course, is new material.

I was gonna make a cheesy "Spalding Man" joke saying you "haven't tested those waters, man!" but, yeah, I couldn't bring myself to it. If ApertureEnzyme's videos of you guys were as accurate as they seemed, you guys had a *great* dynamic; so excited.

I'm suprised Owen never appeared on Kevin's show.. found some nice clips of Nifty (or is it Nif-D), DDU and Hylozoists on that King Kaboom website. Am I right that the ApertureEnzyme site is now defunct? If so glad I grabbed all those vids. As to what the future holds, as long as its not the past, then play to please...yourselves...loud and dynamic sounds good. I hate time continuum issues.

Yeah, I am fairly certain ApertureEnzyme is no-more; I got most of (if not all) the Les Mouches and FF videos too. Question though!: Which member sang on Spalding Man (he sang on one of the AE vids too, the song was "Tastes like Homo" or something like that [and will he potentially have any vocal parts in the reunion ]?

That would be Nif-D AKA Matt Smith. We really should dig out all those old clips and re-posted them. I'm sure Kevin wouldn't mind.
