am i the only one who hears the first seven seconds of katy perry's "firework" and desperately wants it to turn into "what do you think will happen next?"
every. single. time.
side note: ending a question with a quotation that has a question mark built-in is pretty satisfying.

jon: agreed on your sideoffootnote, though citing it in-line gets awkward with all the punctuation.
He asked, "how doth?" (245).

Just be glad Owen hasn't released a song (that I know of, at least) in the I-vi-IV-V progression, I for one, would probably die of a split brain.

MIND = BLOWN
Another side note: I am behind on my Top 40. That was the first time I heard that song, whereas in undergrad I would have heard it the first weekend it came out and every weekend following. Truth be told, I miss that.

Haha, no, no, not a stupid question, Margarida. Its a very common chord progression that can be heard nearly everywhere. (eg. Earth Angel by the Temptations)
--Oh wow, I just listened to the Katy Perry song. Yeah, Owen. You should cover that. Like one of those "Hey Dad/CN Tower" & "Love Song to an Empty Room/Midnight Directives" transitions, Mmm.

My bad, haha, I should have just put "50's Chord Progression" and everyone would have probably known what I was talking about instantly, there is even a Wikipedia article about it by that name, apparently. As Richie said, it was popularized in songs like Earth Angel and Sleepwalk, but still occurs pretty often, it is 1000x more noticeable in 3/4 time; I guess that made it better for Fifties prom dancing? Oh and Richie, he could even transition one pop song into another! (i.e. Since U Been Gone/Maps by Ted Leo, except that was more of a tease)

Oh and Richie, he could even transition one pop song into another! (i.e. Since U Been Gone/Maps by Ted Leo, except that was more of a tease) Wait, What?! I've been trying to get a loop pedal hold on Since you Been Gone for ages!! (where, where, where? ) Performance!: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBr5FPIL8UUTab/Chords!: www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/t/ted_leo/since_u_been_gone_tab.htmLooping it may be very hard? I never even thought about looping a song with a distinct (multiple progression) verse/chorus/(repeat)/bridge/chorus structure, especially with just a pedal; however, I know little about looping pedals. I used to use my DD-20 for it, but since that was a delay pedal, the loop function was rather "tacked-on" and basic. Either way, at the time of using it, I knew very little about music theory, and wasn't too aware of my musical/vocal limitations, I'm surprised none of you laughed me off when I shared my material, haha. Speaking of embarrassment of naivety, I would love it if Owen recorded or started performing "Seven Years." (don't remember the interview that mentioned the story behind that, for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about) Edit: www.liabilitywebzine.com/doc/profile_Final_Fantasy.docGood interview too; the interviewer doesn't do the whole "I listened to the album once, and made sure my opinion didn't contradict that of my personal critical idol, and was too lazy to make sure other people didn't ask these exact same questions 100 times before" thing that gets really old.

Haha, wow, that is the first Owen-interview I ever read and enabled my careen into amazing music. What I am saying here: Diamanda Galas is boss. Also: that feels like so long ago but actually was not that long !

I think I need to make "Reject assumptions: Embrace sass" part of my life tenets. Speaking of which, did anyone read Nico's latest blog where he was all "The principle is to go into everything wanting to like it"? I love it when people say something concisely I haven't been able to express.
