Hi all, It's been a long time since I've posted on any message boards, although I was a regular on a few back in the early 2000s. My apologies if this type of thread is not allowed here or if this post is not the most appropriate place possible. I just want to post to express how much I have fallen in love with Owen's music. A few weeks ago a friend of mine lent me his copy of Heartland so I could take a listen - I love violin (in particular am a big Andrew Bird fan) and my friend had recently gotten into Owen's work and thought I might be interested. Heartland was different from what I initially expected - I was thinking it would be more solo violin work - but that's not a knock. I really love the orchestral stuff. I don't usually gush like this but I have been deeply moved by the hours I have spent listening to this record. So, thank you so much, Mr. Pallett. You have made me truly happy. I've since bought my own copy of Heartland, and I'm looking into Owen's other stuff. Any suggestions on which songs or albums to listen to next? I have lstened to some other stuff (live mostly) on youtube, and have been particularly enthralled by, for example, Scandal at the Parkade. By the way, I'll try to stick around, and not be a one post wonder PS: I only wish I had discovered Heartland a few months earlier. Missed the LA tour date... will keep my eyes peeled for the next one!

try the previous owen albums, which are more violin-based: has a good home and he poos clouds. but personally, i have to say, LISTEN TO EVERY ALBUM, EP AND SINGLE AVAILABLE. they're all good and special in their own way.

It seems that Owen touches people like this a lot. I think all of us here have been moved by him in some way. He is, truthfully, the most wonderful musician I have ever heard. Thank you Owen!
He Poos Clouds has always been my favorite, too. It was the first record by Owen I ever heard. It was done with a string quartet, and it's absolutely beautiful. Has A Good Home, to my knowledge (?) is just Owen looping over himself, like he does live. So yeah, as Msaramago said, it's more solo stuff.
In short, I agree with Msaramago: Listen to his previous 2 albums, then listen to the EPs! Just listen to everything. xD

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'll pick up Has a Good Home first, to get more of the solo feeling, then move on to He Poos Clouds.

Thanks for the link to the live sets, I think I'll check out that hard club bootleg as soon as I get more familiar with Has a Good Home and He Poos Clouds.

i think you should check it out, because for instance my boyfriend isn't the biggest owen fan and he just freaked out in the concerts we went to, yelling stuff like "OMG THIS IS AWESOME!!!" ;D but yeah, i agree, first listen to the recorded stuff and then live stuff tell us how it goes!
