I was also at the Barbican last night! Thought it was an immense night - the best 7 hour gig I've been to ; ) I completely agree! Was a wonderful performance; I'm so so happy I was there, and I'd very happily go see it again. Can't lie, was a little disappointed that I couldn't hear the wind section, apart from when the drums and bass weren't playing. I was really looking forward to the wind section at the end of Lewis Takes Action.. There wasn't a soundcheck though, so hey ho. Highlights for me were E for Estranged, the ending of The Great Elsewhere, and the very end of the set. Beautiful : ) Loved the "any questions?" ... "What's your favourite colour?" "Oh come on!" *plays next song* Rest of the evening was brilliant. I have been musically expanded, and have spent most of today scouring the interwebs for things by the Clogs (Owl of Love That was some damn exquisite viola playing), and a live/live recording of Double Sextet.. Also, off topic-ly, anyone know what the last few Max Richter pieces were (the last one before the encore specifically. Minor key.)?

Had I stayed for the Richter set I probably could have answered that for you deedee, but alas I had to leave! If you're looking to get into some Max then I'd start with buying Infra though. It is gorgeous.

It was a shame it overran; there were so few people left at the end! I had a browse of Infra this afternoon - they definitely played the rather good Infras 4 and 5. I'm pretty sure that the one I'm after wasn't on it though..

The Barbican show was AMAZING!!!!! It was incredible finally hearing Owen live, after I've spent so long listening to his music and watching videos of him live. I was actually crying and I couldn't stop smiling, I must have looked insane!!! And I got to meet Owen ;D ;D ;D I was in the circle watching him clear up when I had the crazy idea of sneaking into the stalls to try and speak to him!!!! So I just walked in, nobody checked my ticket, and I went over to the stage. He was too busy to talk much but I got to shake hands with him Oh and I'm also going to see Björk for the first time next month ;D

Oh yes, this was the song that worked best with the orchestra IMO. And Owen's never been in better voice than here!

Is that the first time that track's been performed live? And his voice was excellent. What a finale!

The first time I've heard it live I think...being a "slowy" and less rhythmically driven it plays better with orchestra than with solo violin/keyboard, so I suspect that's why we've not seen it live before. Yeah it was a great finale. Glad I was there. Still pissed I missed Richter though :-(
