Yeah, I used to think the same and I went to four concerts this year. I even travelled 300 km to a city where he was playing and then decided I didn't need to spend the money on it 'cause I'd be seeing him the week after - of course, I didn't go that far for nothing and went to an awesome once-in-a-lifetime gig instead.

so what? if he plays london get an older friend, cousin, sibling or even parent to go with you for a day, it's only like 2 hours away... that's what me and my 15 year-old cousin did, and it was AWESOME. traveled from lisbon to oporto on a saturday and came back home on a sunday

Yeah, take your family to a concert! I went with my parents and sister to one of them and it was great, my mother was totally charmed by owen. And I actually used my little sis as an excuse to talk to him, I doubt I would have done it otherwise!

I took a solo daytrip trip to Montreal by bus for my birthday earlier this year. So many memories, "meeting" Scarychips, getting one of the first Heartland, meeting members of AF. If it's a matter of getting parental permission, holidays are a great excuse. And hell, it was an experience in planning and coordination (when I got there, the hostel I had reserved with had given up my room, heh). Great time to work on composition homework, too.

I just have to say how happy I am to be on a forum where I'm not the only one with composition homework.

@ captaintomski : My mom drove 200 km to take me to a festival (this was during Summer vacation though) I only wanted to go because of Owen and she loved his music and wants to see him next time he tours here! You never know, your parents might like it. She saw how important it was to me and decided to take me there, and I'm so grateful for it! And the first time I saw Owen live I met up with people I'd met at another concert...if you have no one to go with you can always meet awesome people there!

A year ago, emilypoulain and I went from New York to Toronto to be at the release show for Heartland. It was so bomb. It was one of the best trips of my life and totally worth it.

Travelling is great and if you can manage a to go to a good gig, it is even better. I have spent the last 2 years doing that. Now checking which bands are playing is one of my main criteria to choose a destination. Of course it is easier do to so when your live in Europe and when you work and can afford it. To see Owen I have first travelled to go to a festival in Germany (with several stops including a concert of Beirut...). Then I have been to Paris. It's way easier, since I can crash to some friend but it has to be close to the weekend. Do not hesitate to travel on your own, this actually the best way to meet people while staying in hostel, and make the experience even better.
