Hey Emily, sorry. Butcher requires some distortion on the initial patch and the monitors weren't set up correctly... there was feedback so we skipped it.

Glasses: I forgot my contacts in Toronto and it has been the Hardest Thing to get them across the border

oh it's quite alright! haha, i still really loved it i hope you play around these parts again soon- I saw you on my way out but didn't get to say hello because I was stressing about missing my bus back to the city, but then i ended up waiting for it for 20 minutes anyway. so... come back again so i can say hi!

...and last night was my 9th time seeing you and I've gotten quite used to a show being just around the corner! I'd love to keep it that way

If you are taking requests for your Edmonton show in October, I would love to hear any of the following (in order of preference):
- not another Bjork cover
- a Radiohead cover (perhaps Nude?)
- a Grizzly Bear cover
- This Modern Love
- No Cars Go (or a new Arcade Fire cover)
- Hey Dad!

Most importantly, please avoid being deathly ill (Edmonton '09) and shoddy sound people (Osheaga/MSG1).

Owen, Your Kansas City show was fantastic. I tried to express my gratitude, somewhat ineloquently, at the merch booth post-national set and probably just babbled/slurred nonsensical slaughtered and half-halted sentences about not even knowing who the national is and how I came specifically to see you play; wow, I'm a lush... what more can I say(my brain cells were in absentia...)? Your music is really fantastical and I enjoyed myself immensely. I wished you'd had a bigger time slot on the playbill. I just wanted to say thank you. You are a gracious and humble person whom I admire. I hope to see you perform again soon, you are an aberration from the typical performing musician and that is something truly wondrous. cheers owen.

I'm just way too excited to hear you play! I've actually wanted to hear you guys try Talking Heads' "This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" ever since you mentioned something about it on Twitter.
