Heyohhhh
Don't know how many of you are coming to see us on this tour with
The, National,
but me and Thomas would be very happy to cram in a couple of requests every night. We're well-rehearsed, Thom is gonna be playing "new things".
I wish I had a clever currency conversion thing going on, but I don't. Just remember, we'll be playing every night to a thousand 'dudes what don't care' and a hundred 'dudes who do', so songs with earnest feelings and/or screaming and/or eight-minute story arcs are probably not in the cards.
So, send on your requests, we'll do our best to accomodate you.
The Wellmont (?): Honour, 'something off Spectrum' Indianapolis: Furniture, Arctic Circle Dallas: Honour, Next? Kansas City: Song Song Song, Cliquot

I know this isn't actually part of the tour with The National, but I'd like to request "Tryst with Mephistopheles" and "Cliquot" for your show at the Echoplex on Oct. 22 in Los Angeles if it's not too difficult?
Thank you!

Thank you for the requests!
Cliquot is a possibility. Tryst With Mephistopheles was originally intended to be a 'good live song' but I haven't figured it out yet. Every time I soundcheck The Miner, everybody looks at me like I've just stepped on a dog. I might play it but don't count on it (sorry)

hey owen i'm seeing you next week at the wellmont and i would LOVE to hear honour the dead, or else, and/or anything off of spectrum. merci beaucoup!
and seriously, THANK YOU immensely for touring near new york so much. this has been the year of owen and that's a wonderful thing.
AND don't kid yourself on playing to "a thousand dudes what don't care." everyone around me at the Madision Square show was freaking over you. It was their first exposure, but they couldn't stop talking about you.
xo, Em
P.S. make thomas play a show in nyc this year! i am DYING to hear when i am beth live.

Indianapolis: I'd put my word in for The Arctic Circle and Miner. Also, would you ever consider resurrecting Furniture? Oberlin would be a great place to experiment. Much love, many thanks.

Thank you (and the National too) for coming back to Dallas. Perhaps maybe "Honor the Dead or else" or "what do you think will happen next?" I just heard that song today and I think it's great. Or just play whatever you feel. Thanks

Thanks for the requests, and the kind words! Thomas is Actually not playing a lot of his older songs these days, he's doing sets of covers instead. Where is "The Wellmont", I don't even know my own schedule, ha

Okay. I thought it out, and I've narrowed my infinite requests down to two for Edmonton for the 26th. What do you think will happen next? Scandal at the Parkade. ?♥♥♥♥♥ ?/

I know Aglena got in before me, but I'd absolutely LOVE to hear "He Poos Clouds" and/or "Tryst With Mephistopheles" (though the latter probably falls under the 'eight-minute story arc' category) at the Kansas City show.
Your cover of "Peach, Plum, Pear" would also blow my mind, but I know better than to ask for a cover from an opener (this is me not so surreptitiously asking, heh.)
The two Aglena requested would also be beyond lovely, so I'm more than happy if you can't get to any of mine; I'm simply excited to see two of my favorite bands play together in my hometown!!!
By the way, totally unrelated, but you positively killed your two song set at the Polaris Prize gala tonight - that little medley was just phenomenal. I'm gutted that neither you nor Caribou took home the honors, but I suppose it's best to share the wealth.
Thanks so much, Nicholas.
