Speaking of Broken Social Scene, have you heard their new stuff? They put up a few new tunes on their website. So good. Really? I think it kind of sucks. EXCEPT "World Sick" is one of the best songs I've ever heard, maybe...

Sugar and Gold. They're a disco pop band from San Francisco that I saw open for Of Montreal. So awesome. Also, check out Bear In Heaven. They're pretty awesome as well.
Also, I'm seeing Yeasayer in concert with Sleigh Bells soon. I'm pretty freaking excited about that.

Some incredible Vancouver bands = The Sumner Brothers. I'm not sure how to describe them.... whiskey on a lonely night? hmmn.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUDDJZVjbXY (sorry for the ugly link!) I think one of my favourite things about this song is that it was inspired by the fungi-induced ant deaths on Planet Earth. The Star Captains are an instrumental band of full-on groovealicious proportions. www.myspace.com/thestarcaptains

EXCEPT "World Sick" is one of the best songs I've ever heard, maybe... I just listened to the full album. My corpus callosum has been severed. My left brain loves Heartland. My right brain loves Forgiveness Rock Record. I can't tie my shoelaces anymore. Luckily I switched to velcro. Also, if you like the piano at all, you should listen to my second cousin, who's way too talended to be related to me. She's called Giraffedactyl and her ep can be downloaded free via giraffedactylalbum.com

So I saw Bronze Leaf last night. They were amazing! I take it you got the photo I took with Amy. She was really sweet. I also got my paws on their album, and it's fantastic. It's the perfect kind of music to chill out to on a warm summer evening. It was really cool to see your name inside the cover, Thomas. If anyone else is interested, she told me it can also be downloaded/streamed for FREE at her website and this place - www.championcityrecords.com/artists/bronzeleaf/releases/bronzeleaf_breadcrumbs.htmlNow I must come to Edmonton, it seems like there are so many talented musicians out there.

Do it, Tristan! I helped dub those tapes! What a grueling four days that was.

If a band called BRAIDS comes to your town, go see them. Seriously, it was the best show I've seen all year.

Speaking of elephants, Elephantom (http://elephantom.com/ ). Their debut is really well done, with the gift of a sick production space and a bunch of very good musicians. Kind of reminds me of the Dresden Dolls' debut: medium/light mixdown, too many songs, and a bunch of low moments, and then exciting highs that really glisten.

I feel like she's too talented to be within the same species at me. Blown away. Thank you for sharing!
