Hiya!
So myself and my mother (oh yes) are off to see Owen in Birmingham on Saturday. I've never been to Birmingham before and the venue is The Rainbow Warehouse.
I've tried searching for it but it has no website and there seems to be two places. One called the Rainbow and one called the Rainbow Warehouse. Does anyone know where this venue is? Because at the moment I'm struggling!
Thanks Ruth

Well I've not been myself but I think the Rainbow is the pub and the Rainbow Warehouse is the venue, but both are on Addersley Street. Put B9 4EE into your sat nav and you won't go far wrong. And have a good night.

And have a good night. Yeah, that's the place. It's near the big Renault car dealership on High Street Bordesley. Should be a great show tonight.. we need to be rowdy and talk in Yam Yam to confuse Owen and Thomas... "ooroit am ya?", "aaah that's bostin" and the every popular "Yows me old mucker"

Okay I'll just say.. "Arctic Circle" and "Please, Please, Please", not to mention "Scandal", "Lamb" and "Fantasy". I'm amazed that they keep finding another level of performance. Banter with the crowd was highly amusing, especially the bit about the Prophet Issiah's favourite colour.. Blue apparently.
I think they would still be playing now if they were allowed.

Can I be the first to ask that Owen go back to playing nice venues like the RNCM in Manchester last year. Firstly because it's actually a nice place, but also because it was a lot more professional, and actually had a website should their be any age restrictions, unlike last night where we were stranded outside completely unaware that it was an 18+ show as it hadn't been advertised as such. Luckily it all worked out in the end due to the divine intervention from Owen. But Owen was great, and Arctic Circle! Awesome.

Owen was on great form last night.....he looked so confident and happy, it was a joy to see....oh and he looked quite the Dandy last night too Great set, and extra long, which was an added treat (although a shame it started quite late, which meant some people had to dash off and miss the end). The crowd were very annoying, well at least most of them were....why do people go to gigs, go to the front and then talk and mess about with games on their silly phones all the way through Still, they weren't able to spoil the Magic of the evening......and it was a joy to be transported into Owens beautiful world for an hour or so.....a well needed escape For those that are seeing him tonight.....have a wonderful time, I'm sorry me and Don can't be there too.

I'm with cmj, hoping that the next tour plays "nice venues" again like Union Chapel and the Gate, where people actually *listen*. Oh, and where you can sit down!!

Yeah. Manchester last year was completely silent. I think it may have freaked Owen out a bit actually, haha, but it was so much better than a noisy venue like last night.

Has anyone seen Owen play outside? The ICA venue for Boston has an overhang, but it's essentially open air with bleachers off to the right.

Hey,
Thanks for all your help on this one! We both made it to the gig and luckily my mum loved it.
Know what you mean about the venue. It wasn't the easiest place to find and was essentially a warehouse with a glitterball in it! We had a really noisy man near us which was annoying as we'd travelled two hours to get there but he moved thank God!

the birmingham gig was the strangest owen pallett gig i've ever been to. i don't know if it was the fact that the venue was so cold but for the first half, at least, half the crowd seemed completely disconnected from the gig. the atmosphere was nonexistent and people weren't even clapping.
it improved a bit for the encore but i've never come across a more unresponsive crowd. it was very odd.
though i was pleased to hear 'arctic circle' and 'please, please, please' and i got talking to thomas before the show which was cool.
(also i thought half life were excellent in both london and birmingham)

The head of security said that it was the best gig he's seen in ages and that people were raving about the show on the way out. Doesn't excuse bad manners and lack of consideration for others, but if it means that more people will want to see Owen in the provinces in the future, then I can put up with it this time. I loved the garage feel of the venue (even that pillar in the middle of the floor) and Owen was up for having fun and I reckon that's partly due that the type of venue. Yeah.. I like the more formal shows as well, but my early experience of Final Fantasy stems from cellars and attics (Really that the type of venue he was playing back in 2005/06) and those shows allow much more interaction and fun.
