The Crocodile is always full of drunk yuppies, but i will brave it once more on May 8th.
Next time, all ages, please? 21+ shows are annoying vibes.

But to be fair three weeks after we met I convinced him to go to Dublin with me to see Owen in '06. So I guess there is ~*sentimental value*~ the gig in whelan's in may '06? that was his first gig in dublin as final fantasy. it was magical. the venue wasn't very crowded initially, very few people really knew what to expect, but 5/10 minutes into the gig and people were texting their friends top tell them that they had to come and see this guy. by the end the place had filled up and everyone was just smiling deliriously.

No, it was the October '06 one (also at Whelan's). We took the ferry over from Wales and it was only my second time in Dublin. Trying to get a taxi that night was impossible and we ended up having to walk back to the ferry port from the city center. It was insane.

The Luyas are opening at the NY Webster Hall show on 22nd April.
You lucky, lucky people. Saw The Luyas supporting Bell Orchestre last year and they were fantastic and Owen did some orchestral arrangements for them.
So no turning up late

So excited for seeing Owen at the Black Cat tonight. Haven't heard of snowblink before, but the previews of their songs at amazon sound pretty good, should be a fun show! Yay for a venue that I can bring my camera too!

Huurah for the ICA tonight. Sad my violinist friend can't come, but I'll have a party of three with me.

I loved the DC show, but I noticed that the sound was really, really bassy. Does Owen have a tour sound board operator, or is he at the mercy of the club staff?
I really, really, really loved hearing Peach Plum Pear at the very end. I do hope that he plays it again, contrary to his mid-song speech on the subject.

Who was at the Austin show last night? I'm on a euphoric high from the show today ... wow, wow, wow. Can't believe I missed him in November.

Went to the Mohawk on the 30th ... still on a high ... the show was mind-blowing, and my friend and I got to talk to him before and after. Asked him on a semi-successful date (ended up falling through, understandable at 1 in the morning) but OWEN, if you come back around to Austin, we're taking you out for ice cream.

Went to see Owen at the Independent in SF last nice. Just lovely! Owen's got some buff arms baby! Of everything he's never played live, I want him to do Lewis' Dream one day at a venue in the US that I'm at. No one here cares that it was the result of a butter commercial.
And yes I believe Owen has his own sound guy, who looks alot like an ex-lover of mine from college...

So, Porland. It was amazing. Some things about the venue were less than ideal, though. For instance, I got an unpleasant surprise at the door when a usually all-ages venue banished me to the balcony, after I had waited in line for front row seats. I sat there for an hour waiting for the show to start, watching two front and center seats sit empty. They sat there, mocking me, all through snowblink's set. But by then I really didn't care any more, because snowblink were lovely and awesome, and their lead singer has a gorgeous voice. And then Owen came on, solo at first. And the setlist, which started great, just kept getting better. I didn't write it down, sadly, so I've forgotten most of it, but he opened with Cliquot, then played This is the dream, then SCANDAL! I was so excited! Then Thomas came on, and they proceeded to play the first half of Heartland, in order, without any breaks, all the way through Lewis Takes Action. And of course Thomas was great. They played He Poos Clouds, and This Lamb Sells Condos, and something that was either an old song I've never heard before or something new. And about a trillion other songs. Closed with a song Owen said was brand new, and Sweet Fantasy. I didn't get to meet him, not sure if he came out or not because my ride home said we had to leave . I was really hoping I could get him to sign my scorebook, another time I guess. I saw Thomas at the merch table, but I was too shy to walk up and say hi since I was too broke to buy anything and I didn't have the cover of the scorebook. But it was a ridiculously amazing show, and I hope it isn't too long before he comes back this way.

I always get nervous about going up to merch table just to meet someone when I can't buy anything... But next time!
And I really want to know what one of those songs was! I can't tell if it was brand new or just something he doesn't play much, but it was amazing. And definitely not on any of the albums.
