Yeasayer's Odd Blood is definitely up there on the list. And it makes me sad, as someone who doesn't have a record player, to listen to all you talk about how wonderful physical media is, more specifically, LPs. I bought Heartland on CD and I love the packaging but I feel like it utterly fails in comparison to the ritual that is having a record player. Something about the fact that you set the needle, you make the music play, you have the heavy stack of LPs on the shelf. I'm seriously jealous.

The new Caribou album is super-duper awesome. Especially since I hated his last album.

Broken Social Scene: Forgiveness Rock Record
Sorry Owen....
It is superior to Heartland for one reason and one reason only; it has 3 more incredible songs than Heartland does, which means it can keep me in ecstasy for a longer duration of time without needing to repeat. 11 songs might have made a better choice considering the patience levels of some listeners/critics, but I think we all know Owen Pallett could've dished out at least a dozen more masterpieces, that is if he didn't stroke out first.

If only "a Watery Day" was included in Heartland. And I am pretty curious about Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti. I remember someone sending me a link to one of their/his songs, but I don't remember who. Anyways, uhm, I have yet to listened to a lot of new records these days. I will catch on later in the year, haha,

Irrepressibles album is very good, very baroque. This, but times a million. The Irrepressibles' album Mirror, Mirror is seriously good. Especially 'Nuclear Skies' and the last song 'In this Shirt'. And they're nice enough to stream it on their website www.theirrepressibles.com/listen.html. Gil Scott-Heron's new album I'm New Here is also pretty amazing, despite the fact it's got a lot of covers and is less than half an hour long. It's so dark... Also looking forward to the second part of Privilege by Parenthetical Girls now that I've received my blood-numbered vinyl of the first part.

Also looking forward to the second part of Privilege by Parenthetical Girls now that I've received my blood-numbered vinyl of the first part. #64, you? I've got #176, and now I'm kind of sorry I even got started. I'm bound to have much less disposable income as the run spans on, and it'll be silly to just have, like, one and three. (It's interesting that they still haven't sold the 500 from the store, yet. There may be better chances at a complete set than I suppose...) This might not go over as well here as elsewhere in my life, but The Hold Steady's "Heaven Is Whenever" is a really fantastic pop album and will surely make it on my year-end list. Being a lapsed Catholic and a Midwesterner, I'd love anything they'd do anyway, but "HIW" is like a song-by-song tribute to every great late-seventies radio band in history, and just damn catchy summer road-trip rock. Anyone meeting me on this one?
