Yup, its a new year, you all know how this works. as for me: Owen Pallett - Heartland but thats a given here... Though I haven't turned every bolder or checked every crevice for the next biggest thing, I guess what I'm most looking forward to right now is: Parenthetical Girls - Privilegeand Joanna Newsom - Have One on Me

Joanna Newsom's triple album will be amazing. That, Heartland and A Silver Mt. Zion will probably take my top three.

Owen Pallett - Heartland <:
I made this list of releases I highly look forward to, but that's just artists and bands I already know:
Battles Agalloch The Knife Joanna Newsom Arcade Fire (omg omg) Glenn Branca Born Ruffians Sufjan Stevens Panda Bear Animal Collective film + soundtrack Best Coast Sleigh Bells possibly Fleet Foxes (I think this is confirmed, but I don't really know) possibly Broken Social Scene probably something by Real Estate, Ducktails, Julian Lynch possibly/probably Deerhunter more than one album by Lotus Plaza probably Atlas Sound
and I think that the Beach House, Spoon and Los Campesinos! albums are great.

I'm also looking forward to the Dag för Dag album Boo which is out in a few weeks time.
Irrepressibles album is very good, very baroque.
It looks like being an excellent year for music based on what coming out, but it will take a lot to top Heartland.

Heartland is hands down the best 2010 album I've heard so far (and I think it tops everything from 2009 as well), but of course you knew I was going to say that.
As if you needed another reason to love Domino, Four Tet's new album There is Love in You is also fantastic. As danceable as it is chill.
The new Magnetic Fields Realism is pretty enjoyable. Spoon continues to be remarkably consistent in quality, but I can't find much different between Transference and their past work. The new Beach House doesn't do much for me, but, then again, I've never really been attracted to them or other similar "dream pop" bands.
I'm excited to hear about Joanna Newsom's new record, but, admittedly, I am skeptical about the triple album thing. Naturally, if she can pull it off, that will be amazing, but that is a lot of space to fill, and I'd rather have a single or double album of all awesome material rather than a triple album with less stellar tracks dispersed throughout. But obviously I'm going to withhold judgment until I hear it, and I really am excited to do so.
So many excellent bands are coming out with new albums this year, I hope I can keep up!

I'm looking forward to the new The New Pornographers album. Guest appearence by Zach Condon?! I'd pay to hear that track alone!

Yeah...I got given a copy of the Dag för Dag album "Boo" today and its absolutely everything I hoped it would be..absolutely love it to bits...It will take an awful lot to knock this out of my tope 5 for the year..In fact January (okay + 1 day of February) has already delivered 3 albums that would have been my top 5 for the last 2 years.... and there's still so much more to come

I love the Ms Newsom but triple-album spells triple-wankage to me. :/ Although I'm sure there will be some gems..

I have heard most of it and nothing could be further from the truth. If she doesn't get a MacArthur Grant for it, I'll consider the world Unfair.

On that subject, I really really like the new streaming track, "Good Intentions Paving Company," and not just because the opening is almost identical to that of my favorite 2008 album, Max Tundra's Parallax Error Beheads You. (Listen to the first few seconds of "Gum Chimes": it's awesomely uncanny!)
