@ emilypoulain, Not trying to be creepy, but is that your real name? isn't poulain also the last name of amelie from the movie amelie? sorry just wondering, i promise i won't stalk you
and about those encounters with artists you adore, I met camilla wynne ingr from sunset rubdown because every time our eyes sort of met during the show, i would just smile a lot cause I was nervous. and after the show she told me that I looked a lot like her good friend. That's really my only encounter with a musician I like. And camilla is beautiful

Buck! Haha, please don't worry. I don't think you are a stalker! Haha! It is not my real last name though. My first name is Emily and I adore the movie Amelie, so I thought I would be clever haha. It's just what I use for all my usernames now

Oh, and I did end up meeting Owen- in Toronto. It is such a blur and basically I just have this vision of him in front of me smiling and his hair a mess. Everything was maroon. It was marvelous though. I couldn't breathe. I hope I get to meet him again. He is completely wonderful.

I don't know which thread would be appropriate to post this in, but last night I had a dream that was basically a commercial for a new mtv reality series, basically set up like The Real World. The premise was for four people (two people who's identities i forget, Michael jai White--of "black dynamite"--and Owen Pallett) to live in a house and wait out a zombie apocalypse. the house had been fortified with blockades and steel windows and lots of guns. I would watch this.

Hi, I'm not quite sure which thread this belongs in, but I'm guessing... I am younger than everybody else on this forum- I'm not going to say my age, but I know that I am the youngest anyway.... I'm still in elementary school. Owen Pallett is my idol. I play the violin and write poetry (just like Owen! hehe...) and Owen Pallett has inspired me so many times. Whenever I'm feeling a bit fed up with the violin, I'll watch that video of Lewis Takes Off His Shirt in the storm at Hillside Festival and instantly feel better. Whenever I have writers' block, I read some of Owen's lyrics and am inspired. I wrote a really long story based loosely on Song Song Song once. Also, I've told all my friends, teachers, and relatives about Owen Pallett. I've gotten my cousin, who usually only listens to music she's heard on Kidz Bop or whatever, to listen to Owen Pallett. So... I guess the point is, Owen is just such a HUGE role model to me, as a young violinist, poet, and even sometimes just as a person. Owen, if you read this: Thank you. also-- I'll be at the Chicago, Lincoln Hall, concert in April! (on the... tenth? eleventh?) I'm the tall girl with the frizzy blonde hair in the blue-and-black checkered dress who, apparently, looks like she's fifteen, but is actually quite a few years younger with that, and I'll be standing (right? standing? I don't know, I'm a concert newbie) near my balding father. It's my dream to someday meet Owen... though I don't really know how I would do that, I'm going to keep trying... later, and sorry for this really long post, Abby.

Abby, just go up to him if you get the chance, and say hi. Everything will work out fine.

You sound way cooler than elementary-school aged me.
I'm sure if you get the chance to meet owen you'll actaully take it, rather than stand back and think "That was him, right? only saw a glimpse. if it wasn't, that would be embarassing. oh well!"

Thanks soo much, everybody!! ^.^
The only problem with meeting Owen, really, is that I have no clue where he goes after shows. Does he go... like... backstage, or something?

In Boston he ambled toward the Tour Bus after getting his things...in Montreal he appeared in the venue and chatted with a few stragglers. I think Thomas and the opener usually take the outside, while he gathers his violin and pops in on whatever action there is.

In Paris, the security guy took pity on me because we kept asking him if Owen would come upstairs and I told him I'd been there 3 hours before the gig (I always get there way too early, I'm crazy XD) so I waited a bit and then he told me I could come downstairs but could only talk for like 2 minutes with Owen or else he'd get in trouble XD. Thomaaaas was near the merch after the gig, and he came upstairs for a drink too, and I saw him backstage too and we talked to him for a long time!
I was acting all shy, it was quite horrible XD. Well I started rambling too....aaah I'm so embarassed (actually I think I said something like "Hi! I'm going to make a complete fool of myself now but that's ok bla bla bla bla bla...." XD). Although I had no problem talking to Thomas, he's really friendly. I'm not insinuating Owen isn't, I was just very impressed to get to talk to him as I've been playing only his songs for months now so I was like "omg omg omg" in my head. XD
