Quite possibly. It kind of drew me out of my winter-in-portland depression and re-affirmed my life goals. (bachelors in composition and then a life of rockstardom, of course.)

I was actually only in Portland to look at Colleges (playing to go into the music program, more particularly the composition program) look uptop! I'm making progress on this! I decided to record it with just wind organ and voice. maybe some handclaps. I wrote one more verse, a chorus and an outro, and the wind organ part is almost written.

So. I was talking to dancewiththedead about writing a piece for him and decided to set one of Owen's discarded lyrics for him to record, just so that I'd get to know his timbre and all. No big deal Attachments:

I did some tests this afternoon, beware of little rehearsal, bad diction, changed lyrics, not knowing how to read notation quite possibly having altered tempos, trouble sustaining long notes + other surprises - download here. I'm expecting criticism! Sorry for the MIDI backing, I just got to my cavaquinho. Will try to record that tomorrow. |
