I would like to sing Carloads! or maybe Spalding Man, Jars of Lars, or A Fault of Mine, those four are my favorite to sing, and I've already practiced singing them extensively, especially Carloads. My voice texture and range fluctuates depending on what style I'm singing: when I sing higher it's reedy, and lower it's muddy, but it always has a quivering quality to it.

So the record would start with LoveSong_EmptyRoom, its a superfun jazzy version featuring babygrand, alto sax, stand-up bass, trapkit, and mirimba. Male and Female duet vocals.
Next is Divorce the Ones you Love, all acoustic arrangement, 2 guitars, octave mandolin, ukelele, etc. The intro would be heavily modified and for drums we need a big bass drum and two snares.
Carload of whatever should sit well in the middle, featuring a wonderful big band arrangement, very somber but powerful at the same time. The shouting bridge will most likely be a disaster so we'll just have to see about that shit. Worst comes to worst we just shorten it and go right to the all synth outro.
Seeing as divorce the ones.. is all acoustic, Fault of Mine should be all electronic. Maybe. I think it would be pretty good.
Jars of Lars could be either like a post punk effort or the only track with well done strings. Or first a quicker punchy version with an outro of piano strings and voice recorded at the end of a long hallway (I know just the one).
Owen for sure is cringing at the idea of this and I too predict a big beautiful mistake.

I think everyone should record themselves singing Love Song on a master track, pass it around, and put it all together in the mixin process.

But yeah, carloads isn't itself without that part. By the way, I could be the master arranger, I've been arranging for a long time and could put everything together right, especially since I know the les mouches songs very well. And blueink/blackink, that sounds like a great idea. we just need a background track so everyone can sing at the same tempo and right time.

Yeah, Carloads can't be done without the screaming.

And for Jars of Lars, can't we do both the post-punk and the strings-y version? If not, I would opt for the strings version.

Why not? I don't think it has been done before. And I'm sure we can pull that off.

Strings!...I'm not so sure about post-punk, but strings I can do in my sleep. Though I kind of thought Jars of Lars would sound good with some woodwind instruments, but that just might be me. Why not just go for the extreme and have Post-punk with a chamber orchestra backing. Now that would be...something...

All I'm hearing is "The Last Shadow Puppets".

ahh how sad; I forgot about this, with the photobucket mishap and being generally busy, are people still planning this?

This is the first time I'm reading this, but if this actually takes off I think it would be a really cool idea if everyone could have access to the master track and thus have multiple versions to be combined or voted on, even if there is one master arranger doing the final arrangement. Just throwing that out there!
If it's not too late to get into this (or if it's not dead) I play synth and cello (kind of) and other electronic things and stuff lying around my house and harddrive.
