I didn't give a shit about the music scene back in the day either, even though I was technically a part of it . . . but I genuinely think it's easier for individual bands to get shows and get exposure if the bands and those who go to local shows help each other out and share connections; this would be easier if people would mellow out and quit shit-talking each other.

Bows down to jordan.... im fucking sick of this elite bullshit oh geuss what i havent wasted the last ten years of my life watching bands on weekends cause i obviously have nothing better to do and then bashing them on the internet because theyre not the most scene and most neo punk newwave post mod french core shit since new kids on the block jsut stop it all and go back to your holes... let kids play thier music and sure thier not van halen at guitiar but im sure you werent at one point either so out with the shit talking band bashing and in with the positive cristisism and where the hell do people come up with this "abbotsford scene is lacking bull shit" The abbotsford scene is doing better than it has in ages kids are acctually putting up with the all the elite bullshit and playing shows i think that takes some balls some bigger balls then it takes for a 25 year old guy to talk shit about a 15 year old kid trying to play in a band but mabye thats just my opinion....

how can you say people shouldnt go to shows just to say the music sucks, when you just come on this forum to complain about the topics. If you dont like what you read dont read it. Its your fault for taking it seriously, and if your offended by it fuck off.

I'm not sure if whitfaceoffline was responding to me or booooo elite, but I'm gonna respond anyway.

There's a significant difference between these two things:
There's a difference between a.) delivering an unsubstantiated and intentionally insulting "review" of a show and b.) raising legitimate concerns about how this band bashing could be damaging relationships among musicians in Abbotsford and creating a hostile environment in which musical growth is being discouraged.
In one case, someone is simply ripping into a band/artist (maybe for the fun of it . . . who knows.) In the other case, someone is tired of the musical bitch war and wants it to stop so that more musicians in Abby will warm up to each other and help one another out in the way of getting shows, sharing contacts, etc. So: a.) is a form of complaining that is arguably destructive to the scene, and b.) is a form of complaining that is arguably constructive to the scene. Thus, I don't think you can call booooo elite or myself hypocrites on the basis that complaining about topics on this forum is just as bad as the shit-talking that we are criticizing.
"If you dont like what you read dont read it. Its your fault for taking it seriously and if your offended by it fuck off."
Yeah, I hear what you're saying. I think you mean that artists shouldn't take harsh criticism to heart, and I agree with you. I don't want to give the impression that I'm some pussy who got hurt feelings and can't deal with it; remember, it wasn't my bands that were being trashed across Shzine. I got tired of seeing endless, pointless shit directed at the chosen whipping-boys (like Sans Nathaniel and Timmy Torment) and I started thinking about the musical community as a whole, and how it would be better for everyone if band bashing would cease.

Nah, I don't mind spending 20 minutes or so typing stuff like this. And with all due respect, I'll decide what's important to me and what's not.

Anyways . . . that's all I have to say on that issue. Maybe somebody's mind was changed, maybe not. Well, bye for now SHZine, do whatever you want.

haha wow, who shoved a stick up your ass? with all that rambling you didnt really prove that it was not hypocritical of you to complain, but more like just made up some faerie tale about how if people stopped making fun of bands on forums everyone will love each other and there will be lost of butterflys and we will be united as one. wether its in writing or not people are still gonna bash bands. I recognize that your intentions are good and I totally understand you are trying to make peace and thats really great, but im sure there are no bands breaking up because of this forum, and if they do then they obviously arent in a band for any of the right reasons.

Broke up. A few of the members such as Ryan formed a new band called "First Reign". "First Reign" is currently looking to play some shows. I've heard them since I am good friends with the drummer. They'll kick the shit out of every other sloppy nu-band Abbotsford has to offer.
