it can be so hard, too, to show people that a music scene can be so much more than just entertainment, if they've never seen anything like it before. for so many kids it's just an aesthetic thing; there's no reference point to anything different, when all they see is just bands playing and kids watching the bands play and that's it. it can be really hard to explain how incredible real d.i.y. community can be with just words, to kids who've never experienced that, because it's such an intangible thing, that doesn't come across when you see "punk" bullshit on muchmusic or whatever...

Yes! - ive never been apart of a real scene - i came out when i was young, and i saw what was going on - but for the most part there never was much of a scene, but i cant handle this not having shows, now that im in the position im in i can put an effort fourth towards having shows, but shit - Talk all i want - getting kids to come out is going to be hard. For a show here id like to get advertising in armstrong, cache creek, salmon arm, and vernon probably - if it was a decent line up, you know. I can get postering done over this city no problem, and comming up with awesome posters is no problem. Obviously bands want to come out - but whats next -
This scene has a few bands together and very little inititive. I hardly play, and gah - I know TONS of musicians, and i know lots of smart people - but thats in my group and we're all weird LSD eaters-or-something - and i fear if i try to open an *open* jamspace or something people might not vibe right. Maybe its hopeless, or maybe i need some optimism.
