Sounds like a Divine Comedy album. Exciting stuff.

Alex was very complimentary about Owen in recent interviews and he gets specific mention as making one song (if I remember correctly it's Meeting Place) come alive. Owen has briefly discussed this in a previous thread concerning this project: It's ... like Plastic Palace People, The Seventh Seal... or Lee Hazelwood.... Big reverb drums and mosquito-buzz guitars.... it's really, really good.... I like it immensely. A few more thoughts on this would be interesting and I'm really hoping not to be disappointed when it surfaces

Now that you've digested Lewis' Dream you should re-vist the link above to hear/ see the title track of the album or watch it on you tube www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0JPNlr75-AI've never being total enamoured with the Arctic Monkeys, but judging by this track it's going to be brillant. I love it.

Sometimes, having a friend who reviews music, is good. I listened to it a few times yesterday, and I feel like it's a real improvement over whatever Arctic Monkeys might have released... It sort of sounds like AM's poppier moments, but with a "bigger" 60's theme. However little I have to say about it at the moment, it's definitely one to look forward to.

Hmmm....I like it too, although I'll admit it reminded me of Knights of Cydonia by Muse at the beginning. Maybe a bit too much.
But it's good.

That video is weird. At first I thought it was Alex Turner and his clone.
Nice strings though. Epic!

I think it the flashing blade galloping feel in the background (reference of old TV theme) and the Marco Pironi buzzing guitar that helps it bounce along rather than the strings themselves (nice as they are). To me its a synthesis of late 60's songwriting and early 80's pop pomp (Picasso Visita El Planeta De Los Simios and Five Guns West by Adam and the Ants as examples).

Wow, I've never been that big a fan of the Arctic Monkeys either, but that was simply fantastic! Wonderful instrumentation.
I'm really psyched about the entire album, now.

I dont want to get caught up in all the hype again, sadly i believed it with the arctic monkeys (no pun intended) and was somewhat disappointed.
I can only describe it as epic right now, maybe some more listens will be needed before i can move past only noticing the epic qualities.

...only problem is that it doesn't have a grand sudden ending but has a short fade out (although that's a minor complaint just so that people know I'm hard to impress really..honest)

A little pomp and circumstance never goes astray... Did anyone else get a 'Help!' vibe from the video, with those matching Beatles haircuts and the shots of all those tanks?

Yeah right down to the coats, tanks and the snow as well. It was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it first.

I'm a fan of the Monkeys first album, and I'm starting to like Alex more and more. I'm liking this; it's big and fun, like a soundtrack to a movie I'm yet to see. I was excited at first listen AND THEN I found out that Owen was involved, which upped the ante considerably.
NME Says: : "and classic 60's pop such as 'Meeting Place', which best shows off the sterling work of Owen Pallett (aka Final Fantasy). who arranged the strings.
"We could have got someone in who had done strings in films before," says Alex, " but that would have lost the excitement and the uncertainty, se we went with Owen who was young and excited about it. That fit in more with what the record was about."
Beyond the sweeping, cinematic strings..."
and so on, and so forth.
In my opinion Monkeys frontman + best bud + FF = awesome. No two ways about it.
