Next Wednesday I'll be playing two or three songs at The Gladstone for Carl "Zoilus" Wilson's book launch. The book is a 33 1/3 book about Celine Dion's "Let's Talk About Love".
I'm a long-time--and oft documented--lover of MOR music, so I'm working hard to pay an effective tribute to Celine.

Saweet! I'm definitely marking this on my calendar. It is free, right? (I'm guessing it is since it's a book launch, ha)

I've read the first two chapters of this one and it's really good. I'm definitely going to pick up a copy here. Can't say that I'm not super excited to hear Owen play a few that we might not hear again.

This Is Not a Reading Series presents Let's Talk About Love book launch w/ Final Fantasy, Laura Barrett*, The Blankket*, Laura Landauer/Gypsy Miller, Mark Kingwell & Carl Wilson. Wed Jan 9, Gladstone Ballroom, 7:30 pm, free.
It would have been a good week for Toronto with this and Alex Lukashevsky playing at Tranzac on Sunday (6th Jan).
*and I'd only been listening to Mr Kado's Springsteen covers and Laura Barrett Earth Sciences again the last few days.
Oh for a rapid transit system from Birmigham to Toronto

Hu it's the first time I hear her speaking english... strange... I hope i'll be able to listen to it no matter the way.... anyway, what's MOR? (sorry it's surely a rather stupid question but I'm curious)

anyway, what's MOR? (sorry it's surely a rather stupid question but I'm curious) A broad-sweeping term that usually refers to easy listening/adult contemporary music. Celine, Matchbox 20, bad Bryan Ferry records. edit - Wikipedia says it stands for "middle-of-the-road"

Sounds like a very interesting book and as much as I'd love to be there, I have searched my soul and found no inner-Celine-Dion-fan lurking there (not even an ironic one!). I really hope someone manages to record it though /xfingers

I've had the first 2 chapters of that book sitting in my g-mail box for a couple of months now. I must get to them eventually.
I think the 33 1/3 can be really hit and miss* but there are some gems in it. The NMH one in particular.
* It is a long term dream of mine to pen the 33 1/3 book on The Meadowlands. I expect Ryan Schreiber to beat me to it.
