This was my first FF gig.. and I thought it was wonderful from start to finish! I suppose I agree that the keyboard did overpower vocals at times, but on the whole it was fantastic. I got an autograph and picture afterwards which completely made my life Everyone in Miracle Fortress was lovely! I suggest a Belfast gig sometime

I'm just back from FF supporting Girl Talk. I thought it was so much more fun than Tuesday's. Great set, great crowd, no keyboard From what I can remember, this was the set list: Do You Love Flare Gun Song Song Song That's When The Audience Died Joy of Living This is the Dream of Win and Regine Peach Plum Pear

It was nice to get to see one last show this year even if it was only a shortened set.

Yeh last night was fun indeed. Reminded me of the Electric Picnic gig as the crowd werent deafly silent and attent like at Owens own gigs and everyone seemed in a more party atmosphere. It was fantastic to watch Owen react similarly.

I concur with everyone. Last night was great. Owen seemed much more relaxed playing more familiar material with the familiar setup but I'm sure once he's mastered the new setup we'll look back at the loopstation era and scoff at it's crude lo-finess (I still love mine but).
Banter was good too. Best bit of that was probably when everyone started singing along to Peach Plum Pear from the off and he stopped it mid song to say that when he started playing that song Joanna Newsom was just some oddball with a harp and a funny voice and he had to insist that she was great. He's now been proved right.

Rather than crosspost on your other post I thought the quadrophonic sound worked really well. It was definetly more noticeable on some songs rather than others but it really added to a few songs that I knew well. Certainly I felt that there was strings coming from behind me at times. At other times the effect of replacing the string quartet with quadrophonia was evident as well. Where exactly where you seated because if you were right in front of Owen you were probably seated beside me? I thought the new sound worked well for some of the songs but I was in the middle about 5 rows back and at points, there was just far too much coming at me, it almost sounded like a different song was being leaked from another room but as always, thought the gig was fantastic

The audience sounds very mannerly in this recording. I seem to recall somebody in the middle of the venue shrieking at entirely random intervals during the show, in what seemed like genuine distress, but I can only hear him towards the end of this.
I did wonder was it all going to go a bit Murder She Wrote. ("So, you used Sunshine Bear on stage as a distraction, and then killed Mr. Gildcrist during Bass Hit to collect the insurance - Of course! The perfect crime!") Either that, or they were after suddenly discovering a dormant phobia of violins or something. Nature's cruel that way.
Great recording of a great show. Well done Owen for not doing that "Well, it's good to be back in the UK!" thing that's been re-emerging lately. We don't like that. Ask Bloc Party.

For those who may not have access to the non-aforementioned torrent site, I've converted the files to mp3s and uploaded the show, as is my habit, should you wish to take a listen. I'm sure a stereo recording does little justice to the quadraphonic experience, but it still sounds excellent! www.mediafire.com/?zaoyxnu21by

Excellent show alright and a great recording so thanks for that. By the way the file I downloaded had a folder saying this was Whelans 13th December - its Vicar Street 11th December. Really quality show, even better than I remember it. A nice treat 6 months later.

Yeah, I didn't appreciate it at the time, the murder noises, but maybe they were intentional and I'm just an aural philistine.
