Hey, thanks everybody for coming!
I am so relieved that the new setup worked. I don't know if anybody would be able to tell the difference without a Pepsi Challenge taste test sort of thing, but the newer songs just "don't work" with the compressed, mono sound of the Loopstation.
All the tempos were all wrong and the keyboard sounded weird but all in all I'm just SO HAPPY that I can loop in something other than mono. I'm looking forward to taking a bunch of months to rehearse this thing to a higher level of comfort.
Thanks everybody for indulging this embryonic new thing xoxo Owen

The new version of "Bass Hit" (or whatever it may be called now) sounds absolutely CRAZY. I like it!

It has been officially confirmed that Owen is going to be playing Whelans tonight as support for Girl Talk. And thus leaks the shockingly best kept secret in the Irish music scene in the past month. Seemingly everyone knew but no one was saying so not to spoil the surprise.

Owen joined Jens Lekman on stage in Whelan's last night for 3-4 songs.
Then afterwards (and I'm gutted i missed this) the pair of them went out into the street and played for whoever was around.
There'll be more when I have time to finish the blog entry.

Foggy Notions sent a myspace bulletin to everyone today listing Final Fantasy as playing so its no longer a secret. I think Owen told a good few people on Tuesday a few of which had posted pretty blatant hints that it was happening on other boards so sitting on it was pointless at this stage Id say. Meryl: Owen played violin on 3 of Jens Lekmans songs last night in Dublin. It was really good. Seems we are getting a bumper christmas pressie from Owen here in Ireland.

Ah yeah I know, I'm not having a go at you. I'm just shocked that it was reasonably common knowledge for a couple of weeks but it hadn't become completely public.

No prob. Id heard the rumour a couple of times but just dismissed it as people making a guess since he was playing a couple of days before and it was the same promoter. 99.9% of the time special guests at these sort of things turn out to be one of the usual pool of support acts that work Dublin so it was pretty unbelievable for it to turn out to be Owen.

Wow, Owen AND Jens.
I was with Jens the night after the Chicago show at that girls apartment (if any of you read that article on Pitchfork), and it was amazing. I can't even imagine those two together -- must have been amazing.

Wow, Owen AND Jens. I was with Jens the night after the Chicago show at that girls apartment (if any of you read that article on Pitchfork), and it was amazing. I can't even imagine those two together -- must have been amazing. It was but here's the thing. I'd heard about it the night before and I worried that as Owen is a bigger name here he might overshadow Jens in the eyes of the audience and get more cheers for his contributions than Jens would for the whole gig. As it happens it worked out perfectly, it was like it was just some guy playing violin with Jens rather than some important event. Owen looked like he was having lots of funtoo but he told me later that he'd been really nervous.

I am unspeakably jealous.
I vote Jens gets in on Maximum Black!
