So this is now the official review thread, eh? My review of the show: It was a Saturday just like any other Saturday...only, I would be seeing Final Fantasy on this Saturday, and it's only too bad that that's not what i do every Saturday. But this Saturday night was REAL special, because not only did i get to miss the show, on this Saturday night, I learned that the ladies washroom stalls at Richards on Richards really need locks. And the only proof i have of ever being there is this (super awesome and comfy) t-shirt that i bought, and the silhouette of the toilet paper dispenser that is now imprinted on my forehead. Twas a lovely night indeed!
edit: first post on a new page! lovely. enjoy the heart-warming review, everybody!

He definitely played the Destroyer cover in Vancouver. I have this on good authority from a Destroyer-obsessed friend who was at the show. God, I'm an idiot!! How embarrassing! I get waaay too excited at shows & immersed in the moment and *cough* did I mention I'm shit at remembering setlists? Yah, that. Did anyone get any recordings from this show? Anyone?? ...photos coming soon!!... Oh! & Vito, I can't believe you got your little under-age self into the club only to have that happen, that so sucks ass! Arghh!! Just remember, the dent in your forehead will fade, but the T-shirt will last a lot longer! (& there will DEFINITELY be a next time!)

the troubadour, west hollywood, october 28th, 2007 what can i say except for that owen played a wonderful show? it's really quite wonderful to watch him in progress before each song, looping sounds and pushing buttons and pedals with his feet. i gave him my copy of "the believer" magazine in turn for "your light is spent." after he played that song, he said something about how many requests for intimate songs he'd received for LA and how we needed to stop watching youtube videos. he was out and about before the show, so it wasn't hard to get the thing to him. oh cadence weapon was also very good, very into it. setlist, not in order, with missing song titles: hey dad cliquot interview? is that a song? something about an interview and job interviewer and job apps. song with cadence weapon john cale cover - paris 1919 something about a soldier and fortress or something win and regine your light is spent the CN tower adventure.exe the sea the arctic circle he poos clouds this lamb sells condos song song song many lives it lasted about an hour. the X 7"s were for sale for $5, apparently they had just gotten them in. cadence weapon's cd, nifty's cd, and owen's cds were available, plus the he poos clouds LP. uhh shirts were available in FIVE color variations, i had a hard time choosing. $15 for those and also these really nice tour posters with shiny-ness. here are some bad photos i took picasaweb.google.com/ghettopostalwrkr/FinalFantasy

Wow, thanks for sharing these great non-camera phone photos, suburbanmyth! Like the last close-up; just look at that right hand bow technique: impeccable *spider fingers*. Your friend's also captured something of Owen's newly pumped up guns ; features, I should add, that were especially noticable to me only because I was squished to the far right of the balcony, where the hanging speaker hid my view of Owen's head, and the Yamaha hid his legs downward. In effect, what I mostly saw of that show was arms & torso... Phenomenal show, though. This is despite the "amputated artist" view and my sister feeling down in the dumps (toil, tragedy, ennui). The booze factor of Richards added an entertaining dismension to Owen's banter and crowd dynamics. "Flare Gun" and "Carp" (no loops: bravely done & well-received) were very good, indeed, as was the "Actor" encore, which fleshed out Bejar's original (lovely like Walker's "Montague Terrace"). "Adventure" and "Heart" were compelling, and "Interview" was beautiful--first time I've heard it live. Highlight moments were hearing "CN", "WinRegine" & "Next" (awesome addition of the Yamaha) through the venue's massive subwoofers, which drove the bassline beats right through you; Oh so transcendental! Also at one point, Owen said that while he has songs for Toronto & Montreal, he'd realized he doesn't have one about Vancouver, so to amend that, we could consider "Lambs" as "ours," too (leaky condos scandal?). The crowd was *most* psyched about that one [See, western Canada? Torontonians are decent & nice, really--don't "hate" them. Don't.] Thanks to Mr. Treasure Island for the magical evening! The live show just gets nothing but better & better. Next morning, I was really amped about getting to the Victoria show & fellow ferry travelers kept giving us "that" look. Got some good pix & tale on this one for later.

Vito: condolences to you! But the shirt will mend both heart & head. Did anyone get any recordings from this show? Anyone?? Yep, audio. Don't know how well they turned out, though, considering those subwoofers and my proximity to them. Keep you posted.
