Cadence Weapon is playing a whole bunch of shows because I invited him. He's the best live show going right now that I can think of, perhaps tied with Dirty Projectors. His new album--what I've heard of it--slays, so it'll be a good time for everybody.
Nifty is also opening a whole bunch of shows. Nifty (also known as Prince N!fty, Nif-D, Matt Schitt and John Wayner) is a former member of Les Mouches and basically the reason I bought a RC-20 in the first place (the RC-20 is what does the looping). His shows are largely improvised and consistently awesome and you'll all enjoy it very very much.
Basia Bulat is doing a bunch of Canadian dates because her new record is bananas and she's the only one who can calm me down sometimes
And Ohbijou and GLS are no-brainers

his solo stuff was ok but most of what he performed with owen was shoddy and superfluously out of place, but his amazing remix of this is the dream of win and regine totally makes up for it. Had to relisten to that track again & yup, that's pretty worthy.

DIRTY PROJECTORS are the best live show I've ever seen. I really hope they get all the praise & attention they deserve. Please listen to "Rise Above". They're selling it at their shows!!!

Dirty Projectors' beautiful dissonance has had me enthralled ever since I saw them last year. Sorta gutted because they're not coming back up west anytime soon; don't suppose anyone has any news, different? [been trying to get my hands on "Rise above" for ages! ]

speaking of campuses, I was flipping through the UBC planner that they give out for free, and in this section introducing one of the school's magazines, they had a sample of the front cover, and it was a picture of Owen! One of those pictures of him lookin like Robin Hood. But yeah, what a nice surprise! He played at UBC 2 years ago, too, so this is nice...it's like they remember him

he played UBC one year ago, and i think the reason owen's picture appears in the planner is because the show in october, despite being at richard's, is being booked by the AMS society.
