If one of us wins it, can the winner post a picture of it in all its glory, so we can pretend it's some sort of community property and pass it around?
5- second revelation: during the concert, Owen described "Lewis Takes Off his Shirt" as the farmer, Lewis, removing his shirt, only to find God staring "lustily" (yeah) down at him. Since the higher power is named only in appositive nouns or as "Owen,"...lotsa cool implications. The way that Lewis breaks with the reality and describes things like ketamine and Bulgarian men's choir...like a world is falling apart and breaking out of the 4th wall into all hell. We see that as well as Lewis loses faith in the Heartland, as the battles continue, and all. Even the author of this whole world of Spectrum is dead. In addition, as the creation falls apart, Owen casts a light back on himself and all the messed up things going on in there, crazy enough to kill him on the inside. There's the sexual aspect, yeah, but there's a violent aspect. There are allusions to grand and mythic sounding places rich in some lore, there is death and dying and failed commitment and silencing. Every theme put into this album churns through the very idea of Spectrum and gets spit back out right at the creator...and then at us.

Oh I would totally do that. And just to add to my nerdiness, I would do a video of me opening the pack and going all Zelda-style with the music and everything.

But, yeah I hope I will win one, but I sincerely doubt it, since I've never been lucky in anything.

and going all Zelda-style with the music and everything. ;D I sort of doubt it too...we're too negative.. -I mean, I'm sure Owen's already tweeted and twatted about this and the free songs are being loaded by the millions (which is good publicity no doubt!)its just the chances are too slim for us-- sorry, me--to get the hopes up...

Does Lewis lose faith in Owen because he solves all the problems in Spectrum (Imelda, cockatrice, no-face) and has no more need for a creator "freed all the children, seems I have nothing more"? And he loses faith in Heartland as he begins to realise Heartland is a creation of the creator?
Also if you haven't noticed from this garbled post I don't understand the geography of Spectrum/Heartland. The Spectrum album takes place on Spectrum, right? Spectrum is a crumbling fantasy kingdom that's going downhill, Heartland is *apparently* where the new world is at (flare gun) and Lewis is in Spectrum... But his homeland was Heartland originally?

This is more of a "cool fact" than anything significantly revelatory, but, after a day of singing "Lewis Takes Action" under my breath, I realized that its lyrics reference each song off the Spectrum, 14th Century EP. The only one not explicitly mentioned is "The Butcher," but both songs refer to Owen as "the singer," so I count that.
This may be old news and I am just slow on the uptake, but still, neat!

The UK pre-orders for Vinyl suggest that it will be will be dispatched to arrive on 11 Jan. That's a whole day before US release if you believe your email and have faith in the UK postal service. Did nobody spot the March 2010 bit about more shows Oh! I may have to order both, and listen to the vinyl for a week before the cd arrives... I bet Owen/the record company planned it out that way. Sneaky. What with the LTA b-side only being available on vinyl, too, this album might just convert me to the record player.

I'd expect there to be some form of digital release, but I still need that physical copy in my hand

Both. 25 signed 7". thats probably what the limited edition bit meant. Not to gainsay, but I can't imagine that any label would go through the expense of pressing only 25 records. I guess that it's not entirely impossible, and I don't see any links on the Domino site to order the 7", but I'd wager that the edition isn't that achingly limited and we'll probably get a shot at buying a copy.

tomlab only did 100 pressings for their alphabet series. Did Escape Goat even do a hundred?
I dunno.

Wonderful news: looks like for my birthday, my folks'll buy me the greyhound tickets and concert tickets to see Owen up in Montreal on February 20th. Then, if he's in the area in March I JUST MIGHT be able to catch him again.
A good year will be had.
