I wanted Chad VanGaalen to win. It's the only one Im still listening to. But we all know the best people never win...

Wow, Patrick Watson had been my personal favorite of the nominees, but I didn't think he had much of a chance in winning it considering the competition.

Pitchfork can be such an ass sometimes. I'm happy for Patrick Watson. I personally didn't think Close to Paradise would win either, but it's a pleasant surprise. All the nominees were good. Hopefully we'll be seeing another Final Fantasy nomination in the (near) future

He made a good album but they did nothing for music by giving him this award. He's already the new darling of Montreal and a lot of people have heard of him who have never heard of some of the others. It's weird because it seems like no one on the internet had heard of him but a lot of people I know had found him on muchmore music and really basic places like that. He was no secret as far as I could tell. I do really like that album, but I wish someone else who really would have benefitted from it would have gotten it. Obviously it couldn't have gone to Feist or Arcade Fire, but last year with Owen all of a sudden EVERYONE knew who he was and he was everywhere. I don't think anyone's gonna talk about Patrick Watson anymore than they do already. I would have liked to see Julie Doiron's solo work get some recognition, especially when it could have meant a whole new generation of Eric's Trip fans as well. I'm not knocking Watson but I wish he hadn't won.
