Heresy! Heresy!! Heresy!!!
That said, I've loved that video for a while now. "'Bye now. Keep that string music comin'." Besides, why does anyone have to be better than anyone else? Can't we all just get along?

Not rude at all. Andrew is a magical musician. And a very sexy, svelte man.
He complimented me at Latitude for my "Nervous Tic" rip-off. (Sigh of relief). We discussed the act of staring reductive comparisons right in the face and then high-fiving them.
I told him that because of the endless Patrick Wolf and Andrew Bird comparisons, I couldn't wear shiny clothes or suits on stage.
He told me that he always gets compared to Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright. I suggested that he do a straight-faced cover of "Hallelujah". Har har har.
Seriously! Can you imagine if Lily Allen, instead of posting those Myspace entries, just got it together and did a killer version of "Mr. Jones"? It would be the best.
Anyhoo, discussing which of us is "superior" is all fine and well. Fact is: unless we're both playing competing shows the same night in your proximity... you really don't have to choose.
Andrew and I are going to have to fight over Dosh, though. I am going to steal his drummer.

Andrew and I are going to have to fight over Dosh, though. I am going to steal his drummer. as a person who has seen them both live, go for it. that would be fantastic. i sense the andrew bird community would be less thrilled, however

Nevertheless, when I chanted, "String String a Ding Ding (x3)" when my violin broke Andrew Bird never came to my house... instead I had to fork over 150 bucks to my three-fingered violin shop owner.

He played the violin lefty but I think it's just because he was missing fingers from his left hand and so had to switch bowing hands because of it... so I felt kind of bad because he wasn't very good.
So I guess those who can't play, make.

I did notice Andrew on the side during the Final Fantasy set at Latitude and he did a good set on the main stage earlier. My beef with Andrew is that he doesn't take enough risks with his sound and it lacks some of the raw emotion that makes a truly great live performance. That said I still like him and he was a very pleasant person when I chatted with him.

Hell, I love both of those guys. And Patrick Wolf.
So there.
I don't live by comparison. It's such a trap, and it makes it so hard to like anything.
