Just a quick note. Some people took offense to something I said on a Shaw cable interview dissing Calgary.
I once had a bad time in Calgary (was harassed and called a faggot on the street, was almost hit by an SUV, etc.). Bad memories!
But I don't think any of that particular offending set have anything to do with the majority of the population of Cowtown. Certainly not the people at the Calgary Folk Festival. I'm very much looking forward to playing and meeting and relaxing there. OK!

I just moved here and I didn't see the interview. I wouldn't have taken offence, prejudices disgust me beyond anything else so I think you were completely justified. I'll be at the folk fest and loving every second! also, if that show between Edmonton and the rest of the west listed at TBD (COUGH) turns out to be an all ages in Calgary, I think you'll be forgiven.

Well, I hope you realize most of us are nice, accepting people. Though, I can see something like that happening here, sadly.
Sorry for your bad experience, I hope your next trip is more enjoyable.

yay, your performances in calgary were amazing. there were always more people sitting in front of your stage than anyone else's, haha.. so you know a lot of us love you!
also, i feel rather stupid because i was so excited to talk to you that i think i embarrassed myself by running away after i asked you about your boston show... ha. well, maybe if i get a chance to talk to you again in boston, i won't be so weird, aha. so yes, see you in boston! Dude, that's terrible. Insecurity-bred hatred just really really... Sucks. Last night some kids tried setting my nephew's hair on fire cause he's brown (well, tan actually but meh) & I'm trying not to explode. Hatred. Oh how it truly sucks. *cough* soooo..... Music. & Festivals!! I really wanted to go to this one, the sessions sounded intriguing. Ah well, just a couple more months til he's back in Van... /anticipation shivers!

yeah, being colored (or different really) in Calgary is hard... one of the reasons I know I won't end up living here after I finish school. Though, I'd guess it's the same everywhere, just more visible to me here because I've seen/experienced it.
