it's in SUNDERLAND not newcastle. newcastle was too busy having crap gigs that night, else we'd have been at the academy.

if you haven't seen independent in sunderland yet, it's an absolutely brilliant venue that's got chandeliers (sic?) hanging from the ceiling and such.

The Academy would have been immense though... about 5000 people, is that right? Woah!

hey,

that's academy one, and as cool as that'd be it'd never happen. plus i promote shows using student loan money and my (maxed out) over draft, so i doubt i could afford the god know's how much it is for academy 1.

it would have been great to organise my first academy 2 (350 cap) show (steve whop does BG with me has three under his belt now) but since independent costs less to hire we can pay owen more to play, and it can actually hold more people.

and it has comfy chairs, chandeliers, and a chinese all you can eat just over the road i hope to bring everyone to beforehand.

Is there a website for the venue? Or someplace where I could figure out how to get there, since I may be coming from Wales, as it is the only venue on a weekend I could go to. (dublin maybe, if I don't have early monday lectures...)
Any recommendations on cheap (and clean) places to spend the night near there?
