oh well...
I know Final Fantasy exists and I've had no major problems to get the album or go to gigs so far (bought my ticket for the brussels gig today btw, and the tickets still say you'll be with a string 4 tet).
I can still go on telling about the music to my friends and choose to promote it the way I'm already doing it now. If people are interrested enough they'll show their motivation doing what is needed to get ahold on the music, or ask me.
It's all perfect for me since I'm not interrested by an artist because he sells a lot but because I like what he does.

(I hope that didn't sound too grumpy.) Thanks for taking the bait. I admire your motives. I don't buy music because it's mass market, but because it makes me stop and listen, sometimes think and has meaning to me. To me the quality of a recording is how often I listen to it over a lenght of time. I told you last September that I thought Has Good Home was my record of the year and thats still my opinion.

i just dont parade and show off something like final fantasy to everyone... or well, almost anyone. but thats out of my own personal fear that ill see owen on the cover of Under The Radar, just as my ex-favorite artists have all been stolen from me (so to speak). it sounds like owen wouldnt enjoy it either(?) and i just want owen do whatever the fuck he wants.
as a musician, i agree with owen about fame. id never ever ever want to sell so many records that id be on california indie radios and at the tops of charts. personally, i know that the music i would make would be tainted (unintentionally) to be crowd-pleasers and teasers.
im keeping my mouth shut, and im proud to say that i know maybe one other person in the city i live in who knows final fantasy. ill be fine if owen becomes famous once hes dead or way older or something because ill probably be in the same boat, and not suffering because the cool new final fantasy album is all the rage.

Cheers to that! although Ill be in the grouping of a, quote, "faceless dipshit". Seeing as how Im lost in a myriad of islands. Although, grumpiness is keen and your bitchy-ness will sell records...you two-timing pycho tromp. Good sells plan my friend. Im still waiting for the damned "Mothers..." record too...its been weeks.

Oh my goodness. Nobody is a faceless dipshit. This is too difficult to talk about online.
Even more difficult talking about online: The Drake Hotel. Why is this thing so divisive and why do I want to punch myself every time I play there?

I thought that you weren't playing there? Wasn't that just supposed to be Grizzly? I must've read something wrong...

No, I just played there. My boyfriend sets up shows there. His best friend is the cultural programmer. My best friend is artist-in-residence.
I refuse to admit that The Drake is solely responsible for the gentrification of Queen St. but I have to admit that, as a place to play shows, it's NO FUN.

yes i agree with you. The Drake isn't solely responsible for the gentrification of Queen St.
But it IS a definite part of it.
I've heard a lot of horror stories from people going to see the shows. also not fun.
thats why I personally stay away...
