To those who have the xitsj comp. I was wonderin if anyone had lyrics or felt like takin a stab at em. Obviously Helsabot, I love the Valley and other xiu xiu songs are already out there.

now I can't be bothered typing out them all.. but I know a good deal's worth of my very private map, and a lot of the other ones are built on xiu xiu songs..
so..

Helsabot - exactly the same lyrics as the Xiu Xiu version
I Love The Valley - exactly the same lyrics as the Xiu Xiu version "I Luv The Valley, OH!"
King Earth - exactly the same lyrics as the Xiu Xiu version "King Earth, King Earth"
Sad Girl - exactly the same lyrics as the Xiu Xiu version "Sad Pony Guerrilla Girl"

It's more in the delivery... and uh, arrangements/instruments obviously...

IBOPA's "Hives" does have slightly rearranged lyrics than the Xiu Xiu version "Hives Hives"

This bit is particularily interesting:

"PM: You’ve reworked some of the songs from that Ten in the Swear Jar album as Xiu Xiu, like “Sad Girl” and “Helsabot,” which was on Fag Patrol.

Xiu Xiu: We also did “I Love the Valley,” which was initially on Inside the Computer but ended up on Fabulous Muscles. Actually, the Ten version of that song sucked so bad that we thought about not putting it on the new Ten album, but we thought people might be interested in how that song came about."

There is a definite progression I think... mostly IBOPA suck (this is my opinion obviously) then there are some really great XITSJ songs but most are pretty much mediocre and then of course we have Xiu Xiu. And we all know how good they are.. of course by this logic if Xiu Xiu break up and Jamie forms another band afterwards they should be the best band in the world ever (thats if you assume that Xiu Xiu arn't already the best band in the world ever)

i would argue that a few ibopa songs are at least interesting... i think the two songs on the seven inch are the best thing they put out, and i still wish xiu xiu would cover "when you write" ... the original "hives" is creepy though... it's far too happy sounding

Soulseek rocks! esp if you become friends with a user who has shit loads of good stuff and a phat pipe (even better if s/he ticks the box to just share with friends). I'm behind a bloody uni firewall anyways, should have been more careful when deciding where to live this year...
