no i totaly agree that 5rc is awsome. it's actually one of my favorite labeles myself. but to say that it's one of the best labels in america.... that is rediculous.

name some other amazing labels, then? i mean i'm sure there's big labels that put out great stuff, but i love 5rc for how handpicked and loved by slim moon they all are. them and krs (which is really the same) are the only labels that i consistently love stuff from.

k records absolutely kosher rough trade merge (somtimes)
i think those labels out do 5rc. KRS definietely has much better bands than 5rc, even if they are similar.

krs has about 8 times as many records put out as 5rc, so that tends to happen...and i'm still not sure if i agree.
but yes, undoubtedly, these other labels are great. let's agree to disagree! motherfucker?

5RC is the best label in America.
Rough Trade is a British label. Rough Trade US is "the best label in America" if you really like The Tyde, The Kills and Adam Green.

An absolutely dreadful review. The author has clearly based his opinions on fashionability and a few cursory listens.
Devendra in short bursts??--come on--listen more closely. And as for trivial subject matter, this guy must be an idiot. There is a LOT of humor to DB but listen to how Rejoicing opens, for instance--that is a brilliant, poignant opening.
As for the split--Xiu Xiu's cover sounds like a cover--absolutely predictable. Not unenjoyable, but not even in the same realm as Jamie's originals. The DB cover, however, is far braver--the snaps and Elvis-style arrangement providing a terrifying irony to the subject matter. MUCH more interesting and personal and successful. Also--wonderfully unexpected.
