i noticed that this is a very un-talked about xiu xiu song. however, i love it. i looked on songmeanings for some sort of explanation but there is nothing. does anyone know the importance of the angelina that jamie sings of?

i look very fondly back on the days of knife play and chapel of chimes. no other release will ever have the same feeling in my eyes. *sigh*

i agree with the statement about knife play (it's probably the xiu album i've most listened to, as it was my first), but i could never get into chapel very much. perhaps i prefer longer, album length releases... plus, my favorite two songs on chapel (j lo and king earth) were both rerecorded for fag patrol, and i personally prefer both of those versions...
however, while king earth king earth may not be in my top 5, it is definately in my top ten favorite xiu xiu songs, and it is indeed heartbreaking...

I think chapel of chimes should be the first album purchased that anyone interested in xiu xiu, followed by knife play. I agree with beryann, those two album really are anchored in time for me, and i have very fond/powerful memories associated with them both.
So about king earth king earth- it ranks among my absolute favorites, as does every song the ep. it's head-to-toe their best effort, simply because it's so compact. begins perfectly, ends perfectly.

one of my favorites on chapel of the chimes is actually 'ten-thousand-times-a-minute', its so extremely haunting, obviously i love 'jennifer lopez' as well, but 'ten-thousand...' is so haunting, its makes me visualize a dark day in some sort of port with a tugboat coming in, with dead bodies all around the deck

I know that a sickle cell is when a red blood cell is contorted to a cresent shape usually by a lack of oxygen. Maybe she suffocated???
Also, call me crazy, but my favorite version of this song is the XITSJ version, the agression works so well with it.
Anyone else agree?
