i got the new album yesterday and practically died because of how good it is. something bothered me though. i had previously listened to the version of the song "fabulous muscles" on the insound split and loved it absolutely, especially the percussion. so i was a bit disappointed to hear the mama black widow version. i really miss the percussion, and the new version seems more voclly restrained. i was wondering if others who have both versions liked the new one or the one from the split. if you like the new one more, please tell me why.

i was a bit disappointed at first, and missed the percussion, but now, after going back to the split version, i think i like the mama black widow better...sometimes. i'm not sure. it doesn't matter anyway. they are both fantastic. i'm glad i have two versions. thanks xiu xiu!

what is the "guitorchestra" that is attributed to 3 of the players on 'i luv the valley' ? i'm guessing this refers to the awesome guitar part towards the end of the song. is it played by these three simultaneously? it'd be nice to some of the circumstances of these recordings.

i like the mama black widow version because there are less vocal layers and the guitar action is prettier. i haven't listened to the split ep version lately but i think it's a different take? not just a different mix. i do miss the percussion though

i like the insound version the best & they are totally different takes. like most of you i really loved the odd percussion on the insound split. but they are both great & i have them both so it's cool.
