i first picked up Knife Play around this time last year and was instantly hooked. i liked it so much that i almost got them to play a show in my back yard, har har. at any rate, the lyrics to Hives Hives have always made me wonder. does jamie have AIDS? stupid question, i know, but it has never been confirmed to me. can anyone tell me?

ok, this coming from the guy who wanted to classify jamie as gay (so wrong), i wouldn't jump to the conclusion that jamie is hiv+ too quickly. as a man who has sex with other men, i've had to deal with hiv/aids in very intense situations, but i fortunately am still negative. i don't think you have to actually have the disease to understand the emotional intensity of that song, nor do i think that only an hiv+ person could have written it. jamie is known for often placing himself into the perspective of others (think suha) with amazing emotional insight. i reacted to this song as possibly another similar attempt

i think a lot of the lyrics arent serious, the lyrics to tihs one come across as like a twsited reply to someone who is homophobic, sort of "yes im obviously gay because i want to catch something and die, cant you tell?". maybe its just me

there was a thing in Time magazine a while back...it was a literary review about this guy who went out and tried to get AIDS/HIV (so he could die)...instead he wrote a book (thats what I always figured the song was about)wish I saved the article lookin back now but hey who thinks of these things at the time i have so much crap in my house. i need to have a garage sale.

Okay, first of all Jamie spent a good deal of time while in school and immediately after working with people living with HIV and AIDS. This is where his deep empathy and a lot of his perspective comes from.
Secondly, he does NOT consider himself to be gay. He has sex with both men and women. He does want to marry (a woman) one day and have a family...we'll see how that goes.
